Chapter 110- They All Do This

Riley was sobbing in her living room, ranting to her mom about Max being with Kelsey. Samantha was trying to calm Riley down before she made a irrational drunk call and ended it all. Samantha was continuously giving Riley water, trying to sober her up, holding onto her phone, declining a call from Max that started coming in again so Riley didn't talk to him.

"I just think it's so stupid" Riley slurred, "I mean I told him before he left- he knows what I am and am not comfortable with. We've had this conversation before."

"I'm sure there's a reasonable explanation-"

"A reasonable answer for drinking at fucking 5 in the morning?" Riley emphasized, wiping the tears that were rolling down her face, "If I did that with Arthur all hell would've broke out"

"I think that's a little different" Samantha said, keeping her arm around Riley. Logan was asleep in the guest room upstairs, he tried comforting Riley but she was falling apart entirely.

"It's not" Riley was annoyed, because Kelsey replaced her for a certain amount of time, she didn't want to get replaced again. "He dated Kelsey way longer than me and Arthur were together- and Arthur cheated, I wouldn't purposely hang out with him"

"Riley" Samantha whispered, messing with a few of the curls that were spread out along her head, "You have to hear him out"

"Even Jonah's done shit like this" Riley mumbled under her breath, she hated that Jonah was creeping back into her mind. She pushed the thought of him down for so long, that he had to pop back up.

"You don't go from planning your entire life out with someone to not loving them anymore" Samantha told Riley, hearing her sniffle quietly.

"And you don't go from wanting to propose to hanging out with your ex girlfriend" Riley sat up, "She was like 'Max come here i'm not done talking to you'. She knows we're dating"

"I still love your father if that puts anything into perspective" Samantha said, "Obviously I could never go back, but you fought to get where you are today, you moved past Max losing your necklace, him being with Kelsey because you know he's good for you"

"It's going to be Julia all over again" She cried, that's what Riley thought. She thought Max would move on with Kelsey just like Arthur had found some form of interest in Julia. "This keeps happening to me- it happened with Logan- he kissed another girl when we were together"

"Rye-"

"And then Max started dating Kelsey TWO WEEKS after we broke up" Riley was holding in her tears to say, "Arthur had been sleeping with other girls for months" Her voice broke, "Jonah went out of his way to AVOID his ex-girlfriend when we were in New York"

"Max isn't going to cheat" Samantha said, she didn't want to comment on Jonah's and help Riley dig that hole again.

"What if he did"

"If he did then he wasn't the one for you"

"I really want him to be"

Irritation grew within Riley when it came to Jonah. It was the constant hook ups without a label, the sneaking around Tristen and pretending like nothing was happening between them that was getting on her nerves. She was over it. It wasn't what she intended to happen when she started hanging out with Jonah. And it wasn't something she wanted to continue.

Riley was at a New Year's eve party with Tristen after she got back from Charleston for Christmas. She ignored all of Jonah's calls since she got back in town, thinking it was over.
