Chapter 158- I'm your baby

Riley was standing outside by a fire with Victoria and Misty, having a quiet conversation while everyone else was laughing loudly with drinks in their hands. Max was having a drink with Mike, trying to loosen up but he was scared shitless. Mike only wanted to ensure that in 3 months time Riley wouldn't show up far into her pregnancy on his doorstep in tears due to a break up. Max was nodding along to everything he was saying, relaying over the fact that would never be a possibility.

"I've known since... well just a bit before Singapore" Riley told Misty and Victoria, "He didn't know for a while though"

"When did you tell Max?" Victoria asked curiously, "I can't believe you both have kept this a secret for so long!"

"I told Max right after he proposed" She laughed quietly as she recalled those moments. "I literally left him outside! I had this little box for him, it had a small stuffed animal, a miniature replica of his helmet and then just a onesie, it was really simple"

"I called Joshua sobbing when I found out" Misty said in a blurt, laughing when she looked at Joshua by the fire. "Did Max freak out?"

"No he was so excited" She said, "He'd been wanting one, like we had a scare before and were both disappointed so this wasn't something we were unprepared for?" She was trying to explain the events leading up the pregnancy. "We weren't trying but we never took precautions, and yeah. We both agreed that if it happens it happens."

"So that's why the wedding is so far out" Misty came to the realization quickly.

"No one has told me when the wedding is yet!"

"It's December 23rd, 2026" Riley told Victoria, "I still haven't made save the date cards or invitations yet- I'll get to all of that soon"

"Are you guys having a baby shower?" Victoria asked, "Or a gender reveal?"

"Baby shower yes. Gender reveal no.." She answered, "Only because we already know though!"

"I really thought you guys would get married first." Misty started thinking out-loud. She didn't think Riley would end up in the same situation as her and Josh.

"Yeah.." Riley said with a voice crack, pursing her lips when she looked over to Max.

"Oh what is that look for.." Victoria said, hearing Riley chuckle to herself while she thought of how to respond.

"Riley Stowan you didn't-"

"We did.." She smiled, "We did in Vegas- he asked, and he's just so sweet so I thought 'why not!' so technically... yeah.. Riley Stowan, Riley Verstappen" She said through a toothy smile, "Either works but one's preferred"

"No one tell my mom" Victoria said quickly, "She'll be devastated she wasn't there when you guys actually got married."

"Oh I agree- we can't tell mine either" Riley nodded along with Victoria, "Or my dad- ESPECIALLY not Jennifer, she'll spill the beans"

"She's a bit... quiet isn't she?"

"Yeah it's odd, I'm-"

"Riley Stowan!!" Samantha came up excitedly, Misty had to turn away to hide her laugh which was uncontrollable. "How's my girl?"

"She's doing well" Riley felt Samantha hold her stomach from behind.

"I'm sorry I said you were gaining weight in Austin- you're showing a lot really early"

"I know!!" She exclaimed, "I found out early on too"

"Is it just one?" Victoria asked after Misty had to take a step away from the conversation.
