Max's birthday was in three days and Riley hadn't gotten him anything yet. Jade was walking around Monte Carlo with her to help, trying to find something Max would like. This was after Max had called Jade to take Riley out to get her nails done. He needed it done subtly but soon before they left on their trip. Riley knew Max wouldn't want or need a gift that was materialistic, he wanted something more with sentimental value. Riley was about to give up, growing tired after walking around with Jade for hours.
"Wait!" Riley gasped as they nearly passed the baby boutique, "I think I'll just tell him on his birthday"
"That would be cute" Jade said, backtracking her steps to the store, "I doubt he'd want you to get him anything anyways"
"I'll just grab a few baby things and tell him" She said excitedly, grabbing the door handle. "I can buy a little box and stuff it full of things and take another test"
"I'm glad you're excited now" Jade said with a smile, following Riley into the small store, "I knew you would be"
"I was always excited" Riley swore to Jade, "But I was so so scared too"
"You're having a baby" Jade repeated a few times quietly while both her and Riley held two large smiles, "Holden said to let you know he said congrats"
"You told him not to tell anyone right?" Riley asked Jade with wide eyes, she didn't want everyone in her family to find out before Max.
"Yes" She nodded, "Your secrets safe with him"
"Thank god" She let out a sigh of relief, "If Jennifer found out before Max I'd have a mental breakdown"
"Holden won't tell anyone"
Riley walked around the store both excitedly and nervously. She was praying no one outside would recognize her and take pictures, as well as anyone inside.
"I feel like I'm gonna buy everything in the store" Riley whispered, picking up a small pair of boots and putting them back down.
"I'm sure you could get away with it" Jade said, looking at tiny hats laid out on a table behind Riley, "Look at these little hats"
"Keep in mind they'll be a summer baby" Riley whispered, looking at the hats with Jade, "They probably won't even fit in these by the time it's the right weather"
"Do you have an idea of when they'll be born?"
"So yes." Riley nodded with a quiet laugh, "Early June maybe" She told Jade with a smile, "That's going off of the conception date"
"You know the conception date?" Jade laughed, picking up a small knitted hat.
"I think so?" She questioned herself, "It was the night on the boat...? I think, but that nights so hazy" Riley emphasized and started walking away from the hats, "No it was definitely that night, and I never took a pill after"
"That'll do it"
"Whoops" Riley shrugged, "I'm not complaining"
Riley and Jade split up and walked their separate ways throughout the store. There was a smile on Riley's face that wouldn't go away. She kept picking things up and setting them back down. It was like walking through a candy shop, she didn't know what to get. She eventually picked up a beige knitted baby blanket, thinking she could eventually get a name put on it, along side a small stuffed animal.
"Get a few of these" Jade walked up to Riley with a couple pacifiers in hand, "I picked up neutral colors since we don't know the gender yet"
