Max and Riley were trying to find something to busy themselves as her nerves for the trial crept up. Max had the bright idea to set up the Christmas tree in the living room to get in the spirit. Riley had to take him into the attic with Griffin in her arms as she was babysitting for a few hours. Max brought down a box that had the tree in it, and a few boxes with ornaments.

"I ordered a tree for our house in Monaco too" Riley told Max, she was standing up a few feet away from him, holding Griffin while he was taking the tree from the box. "I gave Jade a spare so she could bring it in once it arrive, so it's inside already"

"Great" Max said, looking at the four pieces in front of him.

"Have you never put a tree together before?" Riley asked him, bouncing Griffin on her hip.

"No" He shook his head, "I've never set one up at the apartment"

"Not even last year with Kelsey?"

"Why would I set up a tree for her" Max stopped what he was doing and looked up at her.

"I don't know, Max" Riley shrugged, "She was your girlfriend"

"We didn't even spend Christmas together" He said, "You know, I would've asked you over if Arthur had fucked off a bit"

"That would've been entirely inappropriate." Riley told him, brushing the comment off with furrowed brows.

"Speaking of Arthur" Max said, setting the base of the tree up. "Is he having a kid with Julia?"

"I don't know." Riley said, "You told me not to talk to him"

"Have you heard from him though?" Max asked her, glancing over at her for a response.

"No" She shook her head. "Last time we spoke he said he'd find out in three days, given it's been more than three days..."

"It's probably his kid" Max finished her sentence. "I'm just glad he didn't slip up with you"

"Can we just not talk about this" Riley sat on the couch, "I have to reach out to him anyways."

"If Julia's having his kid then I think you get a free pass" Max chuckled, looking up at Riley who was tuning him out now. "Babe"

Riley ignored him, talking to Griffin who was wrapped up in her arms. She smiled when he did, tickling his tummy and whispered to him.

"Unbelievable, truly" Max shook his head at Riley, putting his focus on the disassembled tree in front of him.

"Do you want to watch a movie later"

"What movie?" He sighed, shaking his head again.

"I don't know" Riley shrugged, "Home Alone, something Christmas related"

"The Elf?"

"The Elf is shit" Riley laughed, prying Griffins hands off of her hair. "Oh! We should watch 'While You Were Sleeping' it's like a romance christmas type film"

"Not a romance" Max shook his head immediately, "You always drag me into those"

"Because they're good!" She said, "It's not like you pay attention to the movies we watch anyways"

"I do too"

"Max you fall asleep halfway through everything" She emphasized, looking back at Griffin when she felt a tug on her hair again. "I was thinking-" She paused, scrunching her nose when Griffins hand was getting tangled in her hair, "Ow-" She said, "Griffin- chill out"

"Do you need help" Max got up and started walking over to her, his eyes widened while Riley gasped seeing a few strands of hair come out with Griffin's hand.
