Chapter 13- The Light In Her Eyes

Riley found herself in California with Jonah. Not alone, and not without permission. She was with his family, his entire family. His cousin Derrick was getting married and Jonah had asked Riley to be his date, and she wasn't going to say no. Riley loved weddings. Although, she felt nervous knowing she was going to meet almost everyone at once. There was also one more special aspect to the day, it was Jonah's 19th birthday.

She was introduced to a couple people at the rehearsal dinner, but that was really quick, they were in and out. Riley felt like a by stander though, Jonah was the best man in the wedding so she was just with his Mom, Dad, and Susan the majority of the time. And Rachel didn't love Riley, so there was very little conversation between them.

Riley was riding over to Sparrow Valley with his parents and Susan that was located in the Santa Cruz Redwoods. Jonah was already at the venue, posted outside waiting for Riley to get there. They pulled up a long driveway that was in the middle of the woods, seeing the venue start coming into view that was decked in lights that weren't turned on yet. And then there was Jonah, standing outside just like he had told Riley.

"Riley just remember to stay after the bouquet toss" Jonah's Dad told her, "They have cake for Jonah and he can't miss it"

"I got it" She nodded, following Susan out of the car.

Jonah watched Riley get out, seeing her in her dress for the first time as he waited by the doors. His eye's never left her, he stood there in awe, with pure admiration radiating off him. Jonah's eyes locked with her's when she started headed towards him. He walked down the few steps he was standing at the top of and waited at the bottom for her.

"You are absolutely stunning" Jonah told her, taking her hand and putting it on his shoulder.

"Thank you" She said with a smile, pecking his lips just once before he went back in for more, cupping the sides of her face before she pulled away, glancing down at his lips with sparkles in her eyes. "Happy birthday Jonah"

"Did you bring me my present" He asked, holding his arm out for her to take before they walked inside.

"Oh you'll get it tonight" She said, putting her hand comfortably on his bicep.

"I'm sure we could find an empty room now" He joked, walking up the stairs with her slowly, listening to her quiet whispers.

"I'm not giving you head at a wedding" She laughed, brushing against his shoulder slightly when he looked down at her.

"Way to spoil the surprise"

"I actually did get you something though," She told him, switching the topic before they ended up skipping the ceremony. "But I left it at home"

"What is it?" He asked while taking her into the wooden building where everyone else was located. There was at least 200 people inside, waiting to be seated so the ceremony could start.

"I can't tell you" She said, "Some might say it'd ruin the surprise" She told him, looking away from him when his nose brushed against hers.

"I'll just have to ask Tristen to break in and find it" He told her, moving his arm from her hold to place his hand on her back; rubbing it in circular motions until he found her hip.

"Tris already knows what it is" She revealed, "He distracted you when I bought it"

"What" He said in disbelief, "When"

"I've had it for maybe a month"

"Jonah son," A old voice said walking up behind them.

Riley followed Jonah's movements as he turned around, seeing who the voice was coming from. She put the smallest amount of space between them, still feeling Jonah's hand move back to her back. His hand left her briefly when he went to hug the two people in front of them, who Riley was assuming to be his grandparents.
