Riley woke up the next morning with very few hours of sleep. Arthur's arm was draped over her waist when she was pulled into his body where she would normally lay comfortably. She let out a deep sigh when all the memories from the night prior rushed back to her. Thoughts that she had tried to block out, the possibility of breaking up, everything rushed in. Riley heard Arthur groaned behind her signaling he was waking up. His arm slowly started to slide off of her when she stayed still, not wanting to move yet and start the day.
"I need some Advil" He murmured, putting his hands on his head.
"It's in the kitchen" She told him, pulling the blankets over her more, sinking further into the pillow she laid her head on.
"Alright" He said, sitting up confused after a moment, unsure how he ended up in Riley's room. He completely forgot about the events from last night, how Riley practically carried him throughout the building as he grew more intoxicated. How she helped undress him, stayed up until he fell asleep; how she was shaken up from the words he spoke to her. He was guilt free. "Do you want some"
"No" She said so quietly it was almost inaudible. Riley rolled over to face him when his hand touched her waist. Riley looked at him with a small frown, hating how she couldn't stay mad at him for long even when she wanted to.
Arthur pressed a small kiss to Riley's lips, feeling her hand gently go to the side of his jaw. She tried sinking into the kiss, moving against his lips smoothly. But she couldn't melt into him. Not now at least. She kissed him back in an eager search to feel sparks. But the kiss was numb like her feelings towards him at that moment.
Arthur pulled away, just for Riley to reconnect their lips with need. She pecked his lips just a few more times while Arthur leaned back in, kissing her slowly before getting up. Riley sat up, watching him walk around the room.
"I'll be back" He told her, not realizing the sadness surrounding her as he walked out the door.
Months ago he would've.
Riley got up when she heard a multitude of different cabinets opening and closing. She held in her tears that started stinging her eyes, because she felt like she had nothing to cry about. Her and Arthur were still dating. He was drunk when he suggested it. He didn't mean it. But it was the fact that it even crossed his mind, how he threw it into her face, that's what hurt.
Riley got up when she heard Arthur asking for her. She walked out of her room, past Daniel's closed door and down the hall into the kitchen.
"What?" Riley asked tiredly. She was up all night stuck in her head while Arthur was sleeping peacefully in her bed like nothing had happened.
"I can't find them"
Riley walked out of the kitchen to Daniel's room. She knocked on the door, thinking he was the only person in the room just to be surprised to see Max open the door. Riley walked past him into the room, seeing the Advil bottle on the edge of Daniel's bed.
"When did you get here?" Riley asked him quietly, picking up the bottle and taking out a pill.
"I slept on the couch all last night" He told her. Max's eyes followed her when she walked back to the door, but he stopped her before she left. "Me and Daniel were about to grab lunch if you want to come"
"I can't"
Riley walked out of the room before Max could say anything to her again. She saw Arthur searching through her fridge for something, which she normally wouldn't have minded but it irritated her right now. She just wanted him to leave. Riley held out the pill in her hand for him to take. And he did, suddenly sensing the sadness radiating off of her he hadn't realized minutes ago.
