It was Riley's last day in Monaco before she flew to Charleston. Max had been awol since they got back from Canada. He had meetings and something else that needed to be taken care of that he refused to tell Riley about. Was it worrying? For Riley yes, in the long run no, not at all.
He agreed to come over for drinks after he was done. Which Riley was happy about, she ran into the heart of the city to grab a few bottles of Champagne. Lando was going to swing by as-well. Daniel offered him the guest room, which is something he had been waiting to do since they moved in.
"Max said he was on his way up" Daniel said with a small knock on Riley's bedroom door. He looked around the large room, almost regretting the deal he made with letting her have the master. His room was large too, but Riley's was humongous.
"He called?"
"Yeah I was going to tell you but then you would've had my phone until he got here" Daniel walked inside, sitting down on the bed she had just made. "Lando's here too"
"Already?" Riley looked out her open door. She had her luggage hidden away in her closet. If Daniel knew Riley was leaving, he'd want to come. Then Riley wouldn't be able to say no, Lando would've tagged along to and it wouldn't be a trip just for her and Max.
She was very serious about wanting it to only be her and Max.
Max was getting introduced to family this time around. A portion of Riley's family that almost no one knew. Logan barely knew Joshua. They've met a few times, but they weren't close. Riley was hoping him and Max would hit it off. No one had met Griffin, not that he would've remembered anyone if so. But Riley didn't want anyone meeting any kids if they weren't going to stick around. She hated that Arthur snuck his way into that part of her life.
At the time she loved it, but that was before she knew he didn't want kids. Before she knew he cheated. Before she knew he flashed her nudes to his group of friends. Riley couldn't stand the person Arthur was.
Riley turned off her bedroom lights, waiting for Daniel to leave first so she could fix her bed again. It only took a moment to straighten out. She headed out of her room, walking down the long hall past the front door that Max would be walking through any moment now.
Lando already popped open a bottle of champagne. He was sitting down on the large couch that Daniel joined him on. Riley sat down on the opposite side, keeping multiple feet between her and everyone else so she could move into Max's side.
"Rye" Lando held up a glass of champagne he poured for her. "Dan pass it over"
Daniel grunted as he reached across the couch to hand Riley the glass.
"Thank you" Riley said once the glass hit her hands. She got comfortable, pulling her knees close to her chest.
It wasn't until nearly 15 minutes later that Max walked into the house. Riley stayed in her conversation with Daniel when she heard the door open. But there was no hiding the smile that took over her face when Max's voice sounded behind her.
"Sorry," Max said, sliding his shoes off by the door. "Christian called when I pulled up, it was longer than expected"
"We just sat down mate" Lando said, sitting up to get an empty glass.
"Riles" Max called for her by the door, "I'm putting my stuff in your room"
"That's fine" Riley said while Daniel was finishing his sentence.
"It's just getting messy" Daniel sighed, he was going on about how his relationship was getting harder being long distance. "She's getting irritated and wants to move in together"
