Diana was in the hospital wing for over a week. She was asleep for most of it, only to be woken to eat, take medicine, and then fall back into dreamless darkness. It was somehow painful, even in sleep- and every time she was woken it felt like the pain doubled over. The sleeping draught she was given saved her from any nightmares, but it didn't stop the torment. It took her groggy mind awhile, but after a few days she realized that the pain wasn't from any broken bones or lacerations anymore- it was all grief.
Unknown to her though, within her grief she wasn't totally alone.
Although never present when she was awoken, due to nurse Blainey not wanting anymore confrontations, there was always someone by her side. Without any words or plans, some of the friends she had made that year sat by her as she slept. Each person only left when someone wordlessly came to take their place, or when the nurse sent them away for the night. In the morning though, often before breakfast, one of them would be waiting. Maybe it was out of guilt or obligation- or maybe they just didn't want her to be alone anymore. Whatever each of their reasons, they were there.
The most frequent of those was Ominis, and it was he who was there when she finally woke up again on her own.
