"DO YOU KNOW WHERE HE IS??"
Diana jumped at the words, dropping her half eaten scone and turning to face the slytherin girl.
"Who are you-"
"SEBASTIAN!" Imelda replied, yelling out his name in annoyance "No one has seen him all morning and he isn't at the quidditch pitch for our team meeting like he should be."
"He's not at the game??"
"NO! And I can't find him anywhere else. How in the bloody hell are we supposed to win against Gryffindor with only one beater?!" The girl charged away before Diana could say anything else.
Diana hadn't talked to Sebastian, or really seen him since last week. After their respective talks with Hecat, he was around even less than before. He had missed all their shared classes, and she didn't see him at any meals. When she caught a glimpse of him he was disappearing around a corner.
She had also chosen though not to attend today's quidditch game- she wasn't sure if he would appreciate potentially seeing her in the crowd. But she had obviously assumed he would be playing in it. Skipping classes or meals wasn't uncommon behavior, though it did raise some red flags. Missing his favorite sport though was much more worrisome and uncharacteristic. Where could he be? She got a terrible feeling inside of her, a premonition of sorts that filled with dread.
She abandoned her breakfast and made her way quickly to the undercroft- there was no sign of him. She ran around to the other few places she knew him to frequent, even checking Slytherin's Scriptorium, but he was nowhere to be seen. Now it was her turn to crash against another house's entrance. She yelled in the dungeons loudly knocking on the Slytherin doors. Someone opened them, maybe to answer her calls or just make their way to breakfast- she didn't care. She pushed past them and ran into their common room.
"OMINIS!!! OMINIS!!" she called out to her friend, running towards the stairs she hoped would lead to the boys dormitories. She hadn't gone far before she heard her friend calling out her name, sounding utterly confused. She spun around frantically then spotted him coming out of a room a little ways off.
"Is Sebastian with you?" she asked, knowing the answer- it was likely Imedla had checked here first.
"No, I haven't seen him all morning- what are you doing here?"
"He's missing-" she clutched her arms, feeling dizzy from her tirade. "Imelda couldn't find him for the game and I have looked everywhere I could think of and I can't find him. Ominis, I think something happened to him."
She was shaking now and on the verge of tears. Reasonably- she shouldn't be as distraught as she was about this. There was a chance he was just somewhere in the castle that no one had looked at yet- he could have even made it to the pitch by now. But the feeling from before hadn't left her, and she knew that something was horribly wrong. The blind boy pulled her hands off his arms and held them in his own, squeezing them.
"Everything is going to be okay- we will find him. Where have you looked?"
She told him where she had searched, and then the two of them left to look together. They went to places she hadn't gone to, and rechecked others. Still, he was nowhere to be found. Diana felt her heart pounding as if she was still racing through the halls. He couldn't have disappeared, he had to be somewhere- they just had to keep searching.
"I think I should send a letter to Anne." Ominis paused their search, arm stretched out from Diana's grip as she moved forward.
"Do you think he tried to get to her?"
"Maybe... but if anything she may be able to give us insight as to where he could be."
She nodded, and they headed to the Hufflepuff common room, which was closer to where they currently were. She didn't think that writing a letter would be the best use of their time right now, but she went along with it- wanting to trust his judgment. After writing they made their way all the way out to the owlery, where unfortunately both their birds currently were, and sent off the message. Diana stopped her pacing and looked out over the valley, a cold wind sending a chill through her body.
She didn't even know exactly where Anne was- she had kept it vague in her letters. There was no way that Sebastian could have suddenly found her right? But maybe he had just gone looking anyway. But if that was the case why would he leave now- and where would he have even started?
Suddenly like a lightning bolt it hit her. She turned to her friend, pulling him with her as she started to run down the stairs.
"What- Diana what are you doing??"
"We need to go to Feldcroft!"
"What? You think he's all the way out there??"
"Honestly I don't know, but the thought came to me and I feel like we have to follow it. We need to get over there right now."
They haphazardly made it down the tower and immediately she summoned her broom.
"I know you are going to hate this but-"
"Just shut up and get on the broom." She was taken aback by his response, but obeyed nevertheless.
She stepped on and then grabbed his hand and pulled him over. She placed his hands on the seat right behind her and watched as he hesitantly moved his leg over it. He placed himself up against her and wrapped his arms around her waist. She knew that there wasn't much time to spare, but she couldn't help but pause and admire his bravery. To willingly get on a device that would take away basically any ability he had to sense the world around him- it was more than anyone could expect of him. Yet here he was, with no complaint and only a little hesitation.
She hoped his trust in her though wouldn't be unfounded. She had never actually ridden on a broom with two people... were they even made for that? Her broom was a strong one though, she had gone out her way to find one that could withstand her many adventures last year. She hesitated, thinking maybe they could find another way there, but she let the thought drop.
"Please hold on tight" she called back to him, focussing her attention forward. She expected a salty retort, but all he did was squeeze her tighter.
