Dear Diana,
It's still shocking to me that there could be anyone who doesn't know about quidditch, but I guess that makes sense with you. It also makes sense you wouldn't have a favorite team. My family's team has always been the Montrose Magpies. My father was always insistent that we support the Scottish team. Whenever they had a big game he always made us wear black and white. He made us learn their cheer as well, but I thought it was so ridiculous because half of it is just squawking around like a bird.
I remember though when I was six I made my mum tell me about other quidditch teams so I could choose my own. She told me about a team that had Leprechauns as their Mascot and I was hooked. Little did I know that the Kenmare Kestrels were the rivals to my fathers' beloved team. I came out on a game day wearing a crown of four leaf clovers I had made, and all of the green clothes I owned. To say he was devastated would be an understatement. He actually started crying when he saw me, and had to leave to compose himself. Needless to say I felt terrible, and while I also chose not to wear green anymore that year, I also stopped complaining when he asked us to do their cheer.
I wish I could teach you more about quidditch. It's such a fun game to play. Along with following professional games, we also started playing at a really young age. I was always the fastest on the broom, despite what you may hear from others. I tried out for the Slytherin team my fourth year and made it! I only got to play one game though before everything happened, and then I was too weak to do anything else. I was a chaser though, that's the person who scores the points. Not to sound too prideful but I definitely played my part to secure the win for the game I was in.
Speaking of which, I know that last year Quidditch was canceled, but hopefully this year it will be on. If it does restart, do you think you could write to me about how Slytherin does? I don't expect a play by play, but even just big moments and the final score will be such a wonderful thing to look forward to.
I feel sad thinking about missing another school year, but there's no way I would be able to do all that school work in my condition. I haven't given up though, I have continued some studies on my own. It gets harder every day though, and I spend so much time sleeping. But on the chance that I do find a cure, I want to be able to jump back in.
I know you asked how the search is going, and really I don't have much to report. My cousin that I am staying with helped me get to a tribal doctor on the coast, but he didn't seem very enthusiastic about my case. The trip really wore me out though, and we haven't been able to try anything else since. My uncle once told me that I was delusional to be optimistic about finding a cure. Thankfully for me, if there's something I have a lot of its delusions, so I am doing okay.
I know you are going to start being very busy soon, but I hope you will still write as frequently as you can. I've just got you and Ominis to write to. And while he is diligent about sending his letters, I feel he's utterly boring. I do rather enjoy reading your letters though, getting to read about your adventures from last year. I would love to keep reading about the ones I am sure you will be on soon. So please don't forget to write!
-Sincerely, Anne
