Sebastian enjoyed the rest of his break. He spent a lot of time just reading in one of the Vivariums- usually the one on the seaside. The rest of his friends seemed very busy, but he let them do their own thing.
Poppy and Diana spent most of their time taking care of all the animals from the Gaunts. For a while Ominis tried to help to mend wings or cuts, but ended up just on comforting duty. Whenever the girls finished with an animal they handed it off to the blind boy who sat and snuggled each beast. It was quite a sight to see- Ominis willingly caring for these creatures.
One time Sebastian had walked into one of the rescue rooms and his friend had five different Nifflers all climbing around him begging for his attention. He had laughed himself silly before he went over to try to assist in the madness. The little creatures seemed especially partial to Ominis. They must like all the shiny things he wore like his rings.
The two Hufflepuffs worked very hard to help every rescue, but there were some who were a lot worse off than the others. Diana had brought back a hippogriff that she said didn't even put up a fight with how badly it was injured. They had attended to all of its outer wounds, but it still seemed very sickly. Sebastian did his best to avoid the creature because every time he looked at it, it reminded him of Anne.
All the animals seemed happy in their new home, even if they were still unwell. The only beast that caused any trouble was the Thunderbird. So far only Diana was able to go in and check on it- even Poppy had been denied access by the bird. The queen of beasts herself was no match for the lightning creature.
That's where Diana currently was- all by herself in that desert room. It had been the four of them in the ROR, but Poppy had left to meet up with Lucan, and now he and Ominis sat amongst some chairs waiting for their friend to finish her task. It was the last day of break and she was making sure everything was set up for when classes started and they would have less time to check on all their charges.
Sebastian looked up from his book as he heard footsteps coming towards him. Diana had made her way out and was absolutely drenched in sweat. He looked away from her quickly; the sweat had made her white shirt stick uncharacteristically tight to her skin and it hid very little.
"When I interact with Spark I feel this strange connection, but I wonder how that can be when I function so poorly in his ideal habitat." Her comment made Sebastian chuckle.
"Spark?" Ominis questioned from the other side of him.
"Oh yeah that's the name I gave him. I decided it last night-"
"You were with them last night? I thought you and Poppy were working on your Beasts assignment last night." The brunette questioned, looking again over his book. He watched as she shifted uneasily in front of him.
"I came in by myself when we were done. I was checking in on that Hippogriff again-"
"Any progress??" The blond asked quickly. He looked like he was very interested, which felt kind of odd for some reason..
"No, but hopefully soon." Diana avoided looking at either of them, and he felt she was acting suspicious. Why was she being so weird about this?
He watched her as she collected her things, still continuously avoiding him. He also noticed that the red from her cheeks wasn't disappearing as she cooled down.
"I'm going to head back to my common room to bathe- I'd rather not smell like this while I try to eat dinner. I'll see you guys later okay?"
They said their goodbyes and he watched her go. He was thinking maybe he would follow her out to question her, but he decided that he'd just try the other. He turned towards Ominis, who was sitting relaxed in his chair, moving his fingers across his muggle studies book.
