Author note:

This is an ACTUAL long chapter- crazy! Hasn't been my style thus far, but here we go.

"That's all for today, but if you have any questions you're welcome to come and talk with me about it!"

There was a collective thank you from the group and then everyone started to leave. Diana also started to grab her things from the front when she noticed Mabel making her way up to her. She paused and waited for her to approach.

Diana had found herself in a bit of an odd circumstance recently. After she had finished talking with Ominis two weeks ago, she was making her way to the Library when she was stopped by Mabel. The first year still seemed a bit shy around her, but the older girl was eventually able to coax out of her what she wanted to say. Apparently the new Dueling competition had created quite the stir in the younger students. Each of the lower grades were allowed to compete against their own school age, while 5th years and above all combined. The first years, who had thus far received very little dueling training, found the competition to be quite difficult. Professor Black insisted on all ages competing, but didn't allocate learning outside of the already set curriculum.

Now students like Mabel, who already felt they lacked the proper training to duel, felt they would be left out of the event. Many of her classmates had thrown around the idea of getting one of the older students to tutor them, but none had been successful. Then the young Hufflepuff had gone out of her way to try to elicit the help from Diana.

When the girl told her of their plight, she couldn't help but think back to her previous year at Hogwarts. She would have been utterly crushed by the weight of all she had to learn, if it wasn't for the help of so many others. She felt like she owed it to the school, and herself, to give back what little she could. So she told the girl she would talk to Professor Weasley about it and if the professor agreed to it all then she would give it a go. She did make sure to express that she felt quite underqualified, but Mabel was ecstatic nonetheless.

So after getting approval from her professor, she had spent every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday evening for the last two weeks teaching 11 year old students how to duel. She tried to build on the things they had already learned, and gave them lots of opportunity to practice. Things seemed to be going well, much to her astonishment. The class had started out with just Mabel and a few of her Hufflepuff classmates, but every class there seemed to be someone new. By the end of today's class she had students from every house learning from her. And everyone was getting more confident in their spell work!

This wasn't what she pictured herself doing this year, but she really didn't mind it. She actually really looked forward to it, and enjoyed preparing for it. It added a lot to her workload, but it felt worth the effort.

"Thank you again for teaching us." Mabel beamed up at her, and Diana smiled back.

"Of course, I am glad that I can help- but really it's because you guys are such a hard working lot. Was there a question you had though?"

The girl then looked down at her feet and started fidgeting with her hair. She seemed to be a little bit nervous. After waiting a few seconds she finally started, still looking down;

"Do you think you could come to the tournament tomorrow? I was talking to some of the class earlier and we all agreed that it would be great to have you there."

She paused, not sure what to say. She had yet to go to a single event for the dueling tournament. She still felt a little uncomfortable about not being able to participate and feeling out of place there. She had helped Lucan and Poppy a few times in their preparation for the events, but she never actually went to them.
