They arrived at the tavern and started to get off their horses.

"Your highness, careful," Zhang Yuz said softly as he helped Zhao Ying down. Fu Zhong glanced their way before entering the tavern without looking back again. Both He Jingy and Jiu Jun follow after. Once Zhao Ying landed on the ground, she saw the back of Fu Zhong entering the tavern.

Soon, they all sat around the table before a server came and asked what they wanted to drink and if they wanted something to snack on.

"Just tea," Fu Zhong said. He looked around before asking, "I heard there's a storyteller here who tells great stories about the water dragon."

"Oh, our storyteller. She is taking a break right now, but she is done for the rest of the evening. She will be back tomorrow," the server said.

"Do you know where we might find the storyteller now? We have to talk to her," Jiu Jun asked.

"Sorry, but we can not disclose our staff's privacy," the server said.

"Is it possible for you to ask her? Is she willing to give us a moment of her time to talk to us?" He Jingy asked, looking at the server.

"Ah...let me ask," the server said, getting chills down his spine from He Jingy's gaze.

"Thank you," Zhao Ying politely said. Fu Zhong looked at her but didn't say anything. Zhao Ying noticed his glance and quietly smiled at him.

-

"Xiaodan, Xiaodan," the server came looking for Xiaodan.

"Xiaodan is not here. I think she went out," another server said. The server's face fell, and he timidly went back to the table.

"I do apologize, but it looks like our storyteller has left. BUT I will inform her," the server meekly said.

"Thank you. We will come back tomorrow," Fu Zhong said, getting up.

"Let's find a place to spend the night," he added, looking at his friends.

--

After taking a couple of orders, the server went into the back and spotted Xiaodan, sitting by a table with a plate of pastries and a thin book.

"Xiaodan, there you are!" The server said, hurrying to her.

"Hmm?" Xiaodan looked up from a novel she recently purchased from a bookstore close to the tavern.

"There was a group of people who wanted to talk to you," the server said.

"Oh, show me?" She said, getting up and hoping it's them.

"They already left," the server scratched the back of his head.

"Do you know where they went?" She asked.

"I think they went to find a place to spend the night. They said they will be back tomorrow," the server said.

"Just wanted to let you know one of them is scary. His gaze gave me chills," the server added.

Xiaodan chuckled before making her way toward the door.

"Where are you off to?" The server asked.

"I want to see if I can catch them," Xiaodan said, exiting the room.

"Oh...., wait, how do you know what they look like..." the server said, but Xiaodan had already left.

_______

Of course, Xiaodan knew what they looked like. They were her assigned people, and she had visuals of them. If they were looking for a place to spend the night. She knew there was an inn close by. Once she exited the tavern, she headed towards the inn as she looked around, hoping she could spot them.

"There you are!" Chen Yang said, appearing behind Xiaodan. "I was looking for you. I asked around, and they said you just left again." Chen Yang added.

"Where are you going? Can I tag along? There aren't many people right now, so they don't need my help," Chen Yang said.

"I am looking for someone," Xiaodan answered.

"Oh," Chen Yang said. "Who? I can help you look for them," Chen Yang added.

"They are probably gone. I was just checking," Xiaodan said.

"Aww, but can I still come along?" Chen Yang asked.

Xiaodan couldn't help but agree as they headed towards the inn. As they approached the inn, Xiaodan spotted Fu Zhong's friend, Jiu Jun, standing outside, but she did not see any of her assigned people. She assumed they had already entered the inn. She hurriedly made her way to the inn, forgetting that Chen Yang was behind her.

Chen Yang tried to keep up, but she lost Xiaodan in the crowd and ran straight into a man.

"Careful. Watch where you are going?" Jiu Jun said.

"Ah, sorry," Chen Yang quickly said, not looking at him but behind him to see if she could spot Xiaodan.

"Hey, you bump into me and you don't have the decency to look at me and apologize?" Jiu Jun said.

"I said sorry," Chen Yang said, looking at him before pushing him out of her way.

"What a rude lady," Jiu Jun said.

_____

Xiaodan entered the inn and spotted a brief second of the side of Zhao Ying's face as she entered a room on the top floor. Xiaodan immediately made her way there. On her way up the stairs, she couldn't figure out how she could manage to 'accidentally' bump into Zhao Ying. She thought that if they met by accident before the official meeting, it might help them get closer on their second meeting. She was hoping Zhao Ying would come out and bump into her as she walked past her door, but it didn't seem like Zhao Ying was coming out. The next best thing Xiaodan could think of was accidentally falling right outside of Zhao Ying's door to make her come out.

Once she was close enough, she was prepared to trip on her feet.

"Ah!" she made a loud noise, hoping Zhao Ying could hear her from inside. As she was falling, an arm wrapped around her waist to pull her up from the fall, but immediately pinned her to the wall with a blade against her neck.
