"What do you think you are doing?" his voice was dead cold. His eyes were firm and serious in the dark. He wore all black, but Xiaodan could see he had a royal general pedant on his waistband.
"I- tripped on my feet," Xiaodan tried to explain.
"Is that so?" his voice became more deadly. "I saw you a while ago. You were looking around before purposely falling on your own," He Jingy said, getting the blade closer to her neck.
"So, what is your true intention?" He Jingy said.
Soon, a shout came from below, "Xiaodan!" Chen Yang, who entered the inn, saw Xiaodan pinned to a wall with a tall, scary man leaning over her and holding a sword against her neck.
"Stop right there! You dare harm innocent people in broad daylight. Xiaodan, I'm coming!" Chen Yang shouted, making her way up the stairs.
However, before Chen Yang made it far, a hand grabbed her wrist, stopping her. Chen Yang looked back and saw the man she had bumped into before. Jiu Jun heard commotion from inside and immediately hurried inside to see that He Jingy had pinned a woman to the wall and a lady down below, yelling at them and going upstairs to stop He Jingy. Jiu Jun's first instinct was to prevent any obstacle from hindering He Jingy. He knew He Jingy wouldn't do anything so drastic if he knew this person was a potential threat, and it was his job as a subordinate to help He Jingy.
"You again!" Chen Yang said with wide eyes. She tried to pull her wrist away, but he gripped her wrist tighter.
"Everyone, look! These men are trying to harm us, women!" Chen Yang shouted, still trying to pull away.
Immediately, everyone had directed their attention to Chen Yang and Jiu Jun. With He Jingy still staring at her, Xiaodan had a glance around and down at Chen Yang. She noticed everyone was paying attention to Chen Yang shouting. She immediately used her left hand, pushing He Jingy away from her as she used a bit of the bracelet magic to help her give enough strength to shove him and create a distance between them.
With the unexpected shove, He Jingy released her waist and repositioned himself. He Jingy was a bit stunned by her push but quickly regained his composure, fixing his gaze on her.
"May I say you are quite rogue, sir. To lay a hand on a woman in broad daylight," Xiaodan said with a smile, ignoring his hostility.
"I might add that it's a bit ungentlemanly to watch a woman's movement for a period of time," Xiaodan said.
"I am only doing my duty to protect my young master's safety, and you are aimlessly lingering around his surroundings, posing a threat," He Jingy said, seriously with his sword ready.
"I apologize for this misunderstanding. I will take myself elsewhere," Xiaodan said, seeing that Zhao Ying was not coming out to check. Xiaodan stared at He Jingy, who didn't move or say anything. He narrowed his eyes.
"Alright," he said, putting his sword away, waiting to see her next move.
Xiaodan could see he wasn't letting his guard down, so she easily displayed a bright smile. He immediately stiffened, looking at her closely.
"Jingy, what's the matter outside?" a male voice came from inside. Xiaodan instantly stopped moving and looked towards the door. He Jingy noticed her gaze and shot her a glare.
"Nothing, young master. Stay inside," He Jingy said. Xiaodan listened to his serious tone and deadly eyes before she lightly chuckled and continued her way.
"Young fella, you should relax. I don't bite," Xiaodan smiled as she passed him.
Once He Jingy saw Xiaodan heading down the stairs, he looked down at Jiu Jun. Jiu Jun immediately let go of Chen Yang and simply apologized. Chen Yang yanked her hand back before glaring at him and quickly hurried up the stairs.
"Xiaodan, are you alright?" Chen Yang said, concerned, before glancing at He Jingy.
"Mmm," Xiaodan nodded her head, "Come, let's go," Xiaodan added.
"But...were you able to find the person you are looking for?" Chen Yang said hesitantly.
"No, but it's alright. Let's go," Xiaodan said, glancing back to see He Jingy was still watching them. Xiaodan grinned at him and immediately noticed that he had become stiff once again. She chuckled before leaving with Chen Yang.
She wasn't disappointed that she didn't see her assigned people; she knew they were looking for her, so they would come find her again.
