Inside the room, Zhao Ying and Fu Zhong awkwardly remain still.

Zhao Ying finally spoke, "Your highness, you can head to your room. I can do it myself." She slightly moved and tried to reach for the ointment, but before she could grab it, Fu Zhong took it.

"I can do it," Fu Zhong said, sitting beside her.

"No, your highness. You have done enough already," Zhao Ying said, trying to take the ointment out of his hand, but he pulled his hand back.

"Like I said, I can do it unless you want someone else to do it, like your guard?" he said, raising an eyebrow at her.

Zhao Ying widened her eyes with her cheeks turning flush, "Of course not! What accusation are you implying again? Didn't...I already explained it..."

"I wouldn't mind hearing it again," he said with a sly smile. Zhao Ying's cheeks turned bright red.

________

"What was all that about?" He Jingy said, bringing them to a discreet area before cornering her.

"I was about to say the same to you. I must thank you for stepping up and blocking me to help make way for the crown prince," Xiaodan said with a smile.

"What are you trying to do?" He Jingy said sharply and leaned in closer to her.

"Didn't you see how you created an opportunity to bring them together?" she said, looking up at him with her peach blossom eyes.

"Don't try to make me into your henchman," He Jingy threatened.

"Ah uh, I didn't do anything. You just happened to coincide. Plus, what's so wrong with them falling in love with each other? Don't you want his highness, your friend, to be married to someone he loves?" Xiaodan asked.

He Jingy answered, "It's their duty."

"Yes, yes. I know this is a political marriage, and there's no need for love. And many, many generations before them have had political marriages throughout time, but is it so wrong for them to at least get to know each other? They are going to be stuck together in this marriage." Xiaodan said, gazing at him. He Jingy went silent.

Xiaodan smiled as she got him. She soon realized how close they were.

"General He, do you perhaps have a thing for me? You are quite close," Xiaodan teased.

"Ahm," He Jingy slightly coughed and took a big step back.

"General He, no need to be shy. A man mustn't be too shy, or how will you get a wife?" Xiaodan toyed with him.

"My life revolves around my duty as a general," He Jingy said justly.

"So you want to stay a virgin bachelor for life? With your looks, you must have fooled around. Like maybe a brothel," Xiaodan teased.

He Jingy's veins bulged, "Preposterous!" He left her, laughing on her own. She didn't know why, but she couldn't help but tease him.

______

Chen Yang didn't listen to Xiaodan's words and wanted to follow them. However, before she could, she was immediately stopped by Jiu Jun.

"Where are you off to?" Jiu Jun asked, knowing right off the bat where she was heading.

"It's none of your business. Now step aside," Chen Yang said, glaring at him.

"It looks like you are lost. Your room is that way," Jiu Jun pointed the direction for her.

"I..I'm not going to my room. I'm going to follow them, so stop interfering," Chen Yang said bluntly, trying to go around him. Jiu Jun blocked her path.

"I'm sorry, but I can't let that happen," Jiu Jun said.

"Why is that? You clearly saw how he dragged her away," Chen Yang said.

"General He must have a reason to take her. He does not do anything willy-nilly. Rest assured," Jiu Jun said.

"Well, I want to make sure," Chen Yang said, trying to go around him again. Jiu Jun once again blocked her.

"You!" Chen Yang glared at him.

"Sorry, it is my duty as a subordinate to help the general," Jiu Jun said.

"Oh, I see," Chen Yang raised an eyebrow. Jiu Jun saw the gleam in her eyes.

"Help-," Chen Yang's shout was cut short by Jiu Jun. He immediately covered her mouth with his hand. He figured she was going to pull the same stunt she did before.

"You-" Chen Yang tried to say and struggled to break free. Jiu Jun quickly wrapped his other arm around her head and held her closer to him, still covering her mouth with his hand. Chen Yang tried to pull his hand from covering her mouth, but failed.

"I'll let you go if you don't create a scene like last time," Jiu Jun said, looking down at Chen Yang.

Chen Yang stopped fussing and looked up at him with her hand resting on his wrist.

"Hmph, fine," she muttered beneath his hand.

"Good," Jiu Jun said, releasing her.

Chen Yang adjusted her clothes and glared at him before she could say a word, a voice came behind.

"Chen Yang? I thought you headed to the room first," Xiaodan said, coming back with He Jingy.

"Xiaodan!" Chen Yang hurried to her and grabbed hold of her hands. "Are you okay?" she whispered, cautiously glancing at He Jingy.

"Huh? Of course, I am fine. Like I told you many times now, he means no harm. Don't worry too much," Xiaodan said, patting Chen Yang's hands.

"What were you doing out here?" Xiaodan asked.

"Nothing," Chen Yang said, looking back and glaring at Jiu Jun.
