The next day arrived, and they headed out again. Zhang Yuz was able to purchase another horse and was once again driving the carriage. They planned to head to the closest city to Mountain Su to see if anyone knew anything about the Taoist Priest Feng. During the journey, whenever Chen Yang and Jiu Jun had the chance to see each other, they gave each other a sour look.
Fu Zhong and Zhao Ying seemed to have gotten closer. Fu Zhong would quietly tease Zhao Ying when no one was looking; however, Xiaodan had caught on and was extremely pleased. Every time they stopped at the nearest city to find a place to rest, Fu Zhong would personally apply ointment for Zhao Ying. And whenever they ate all together, Fu Zhong would be considerate to Zhao Ying and help move plates closer to her or even place food in her bowl. Everything was seen by everyone. Zhang Yuz quietly endured his jealousy while Xiaodan had a great big smile plastered on her face.
He Jingy stared at Xiaodan, then glanced at Fu Zhong and Zhao Ying, and let out a slight sigh of relief. He quietly watched it play out, but he still kept his word and kept a close eye on Xiaodan. Xiaodan didn't mind it and had her fun teasing him here and there. It was a pleasant time, she felt.
Soon, they reached the city closest to Mountain Su and decided to find a place to spend the night before they went to investigate anything about Taoist Priest Feng. And by the time they reached the city, Zhao Ying's ankle had healed, and she didn't need Fu Zhong to apply ointment for her anymore. Although they had no reason to interact, they became familiar with each other and occasionally talked and stuck close to each other. Even though their actions were subtle, Xiaodan was content enough. A little progress was still progress.
Her main concern was finding the priest and unsealing the dragon. She had no precise answer. She wasn't able to get any help from where she could find them. All she had were vague answers; for instance, the water dragon was locked up in Mountain Su, and Taoist Priest Feng lived in the forest. The forest was a ginormous area. Where could they find him? What kind of luck do they have in finding him in this vast forest? She felt she was going to lose her mind and hoped a miracle would happen, or someone from the higher-ups had sent a message to Taoist Priest Feng, and he would appear to them.
However, all in all, Xiaodan felt that once the water dragon was released, things would take their course and fall into place, and she would have completed her case.
