"Are you out of your mind, MengYao? You know we can't help each other. We will get in trouble," Xiaodan said, discreetly.

"Oh, come on. No one is watching us. Plus, we will be in disguise anyway, no one will know," MengYao said, casually.

"What are you planning?" Xiaodan said, furrowing her eyebrows. MengYao just smirked.

The next morning arrived, and Chen Yang heard a knock at the door. She went to open the door and found Jiu Jun standing there.

"What do you want?" Chen Yang said with a frown on her face. Jiu Jun instantly had a sour expression on his face once he saw Chen Yang's frown.

"I only came to tell you and Miss Li that we are heading down to eat, unless you want to starve, then be my guest," Jiu Jun said.

"Well, I'm not hungry. Also, I can feed myself, so no need to worry about me," Chen Yang said with a snarky tone.

"Fine, whatever you say," Jiu Jun said and was about to leave until he remembered, "What about Miss Li? Does she want to join us?" He asked.

"Xiaodan is not here. She left this morning," Chen Yang said.

"Where did she go?" Another voice appeared behind Jiu Jun. Chen Yang immediately noticed He Jingy, walking toward them.

"Um...," Chen Yang stuttered, feeling intimidated. "I- I don't know. She said she had an errand to do," Chen Yang stammered.

"An errand?" He Jingy raised an eyebrow.

"Ah..well.... Yesterday she said she met an old friend and today she was going to visit them," she said.

"An old friend?" He Jingy questioned again.

"Y-yes. I never met them before, so I don't know who they are," Chen Yang answered, hoping he would stop interrogating her.

He Jingy stopped questioning her and left without a word.

"You don't have to be so scared of Jingy. He's not a bad guy," Jiu Jun said, seeing how scared Chen Yang was when talking to He Jingy.

"How would you know. His tone of voice and eyes say otherwise," Chen Yang said, still feeling the chills going down her spine.

Fu Zhong, Zhao Ying, and Zhang Yuz spotted He Jingy coming down the stairs. They all expected he would join them, but instead, he was heading towards the exit of the inn.

"Jingy, aren't you going to eat breakfast?" Fu Zhong asked once he walked past them.

"No, you guys go ahead and eat without me," he answered back, leaving the inn. Soon enough, Jiu Jun came down the stairs.

"Where's Miss Li and Miss Chen?" Zhao Ying asked once Jiu Jun sat down, as he had seen the back of He Jingy leaving the door.

"Oh, Miss Chen said she wasn't hungry, and Miss Li had gone out this morning," he reported to them.

"Had gone out?" Zhao Ying said, puzzled.

"Yes, that's what Miss Chen had said," Jiu Jun answered.

In the bustling city, the streets were crowded with vendors selling all sorts of things to earn a living for their families. He Jingy walked aside with the crowd. He spotted a young maiden in a scholar's outfit with a maid beside her. They walked along with the crowd. It seemed like a young man in a high-ranking guard uniform in the far back was overseeing them without them noticing him. Soon, in the hustling crowd, the young maiden collided with a young scholar. The young scholar caught her before she fell onto the ground.
