"I don't understand... What are you talking about? Why is it because of me?" Xiaodan stuttered.
"Long story short, you met him long ago. In his first life...," Senior Zixin answered.
"What do you mean...how is that possible?" she said, tilting her head.
"It was your first mid-level case," Senior Zixin once again calmly answered her.
"That can't be...why can't I remember...," She softly said, trying to think back. For some reason, she could barely remember. She didn't understand why she couldn't remember so well. Until she realized they made her forget, like they do to their assigned people, making them slowly forget. To have memories but can't fully remember.
"You guys made me forget!" Xiaodan said, getting worked up.
"Yes," Senior Zixin simply said and snapped his finger, and memories started rewinding.

Long ago, there lived a water dragon who roamed the earth. Her name was Yinuo. She was the guardian of the forest. Her days were spent lazing around and caring for the animals and plants deep in the forest. Until she happened to meet a poor, injured scholar, who had lost his way as he was searching for a rare plant he had read about. She rarely encountered mortals deep in the forest or saw this type of human. She had seen rugged humans with weapons, wanting to hunt the animals, or old humans with a secured wooden basket full of herbs. However, he looked thin, weak, and unfit for the forest as he had no material and clothes suited for the forest. Upon encountering him, he was gentle and kind. She was deeply moved by his gentleness, as she had the capability to make her tears heal anything. With one drop, it will be healed.
She accumulated her power within her and turned one of her normal tears into a beautiful golden tear as she blinked. Once it dropped onto his wound, it was instantly healed. He kindly thanked her, and in that instance, they fell madly in love. Soon enough, days went by and then weeks as he lived with her, and they spent every moment together.
He realized he had to go back home and inform his family that he was fine, and they shouldn't worry about him. He then promised to come back to her after he had informed his family. Before he left, he had asked for one of her healing tears for the journey.
She waited, and soon days went by, and it turned into months. At first, she eagerly waited for him until she couldn't anymore. She left the forest and went to his hometown, and found that he had gone to the capital.
Once she reached the capital, she had learned many things about him and how he had made himself into one of the well-known ministers in the royal palace. The first thing she learned was that he had taken the test to work at the royal palace as a royal scholar official. He slowly made his way up until the royal princess had fallen ill. He miraculously found a tonic to heal her, and soon he rose up into a minister and became wedded to the royal princess. The day she arrived at the capital was the wedding day.
At first, when he went down to tell his family he was fine and not to worry about him. He soon realized he couldn't leave his family empty-handed, so he thought it was best for him to earn some money to give them before he parted ways. He simply thought she could wait a bit longer. There was no harm done. So he went off to the capital to take his scholar official exam and was accepted. He slowly rose up and soon experienced luxury. It was then that a small spark of greed sprouted in him and started to grow larger as he moved up the chain. He would occasionally remember her; however, he then remembered the shabby hut he lived in when he was with her or the gloomy, dense forest. Soon, luck came his way as the princess became sick. He then remembered her healing tear and used it to heal the princess. He thought he would get a massive reward and possibly give him a step in the emperor's favor, and maybe a chance to be a candidate to marry the princess. And soon enough, he was wedded to the princess and became the emperor's right-hand minister. He could see that he would become the emperor himself and rule the land.
The water dragon was completely heartbroken and enraged from the news of his grand wedding as she stormed in to confront him. Once she locked eyes with him, she saw the betrayal. In a fit of rage, she created heavy rain, which started to flood the land. Soon, she destroyed the wedding ceremony by demolishing buildings and using her power to kill people in her way. Soon enough, a priest came and sealed her in the mountain.
It wasn't long before the humans started to rebuild everything and slowly forget what happened, as it soon became a tale. However, luck was still on his side, and he had become emperor and ruled the land, but it no longer rained, and the drought had stayed for many years.
