It was a peaceful evening when Cabir and Navya decided to head into town for some grocery shopping. They needed to stock up on food for the week during their stay in the village, and the local shops didn't have everything they needed. So, they made the short drive to a larger supermarket in the nearby town.
As they left the village, Cabir looked out the window and noticed the town with its many shops. The roads were busier, and the buildings seemed more crowded compared to the quiet village they were used to.
Cabir parked in front of the supermarket, and they both stepped out of the car. The store was bright and clean inside. Cabir grabbed a small shopping trolley and followed Navya down the aisles. She knew exactly what to pick—bread, milk, eggs, and a few other basics. She carefully placed each item in the trolley as they moved along.
Cabir followed quietly, observing her with a soft smile. Suddenly, his phone buzzed in his pocket. He glanced at the screen and saw it was Manik calling. Cabir smiled to himself, a familiar grin spreading across his face as he answered the call.
"Hi, Manik. How are you?" he greeted, his voice light.
Manik's voice came through with a playful edge. "Hello to you too, Mr. Too Busy. Didn't even call us to let us know you made it back safely."
Cabir laughed, running a hand through his hair. "Sorry, dude. I don't know how I slept, but I was completely wiped out from the journey."
Manik chuckled on the other end. "Yeah, yeah, I know. But Navya told us you were fine. At least she's mature enough to keep us informed. Unlike my childish friend."
Cabir smirked, shaking his head. "Yeah, I'm the childish one, huh? What a friend you are."
Manik laughed loudly. "Come on, you know I'm just messing with you. So, what are you doing now?"
Cabir glanced at Navya again, who was picking out a pack of pasta. He leaned against the cart casually, answering, "Grocery shopping with Navya."
Manik burst out laughing. "Good going, man! The great Cabir Dhawan himself, doing grocery shopping. Welcome to married life!"
Cabir chuckled, rolling his eyes at his friend's teasing. "Yeah, you're right. Guess that's why I haven't seen the arrogant, ruthless businessman in you lately."
Manik grinned on the other end of the line. "Exactly! And that's why I'm welcoming you, Dhawan."
The two of them laughed together, the sound of their friendship bridging the distance between them. After a moment, they both quieted down.
"Alright, man. I'll talk to you later," Cabir said, a smile still tugging at the corners of his lips.
"Yeah, take care, and don't forget to call next time. Tell Navya I said hi," Manik replied, his tone light.
"I will. Take care, bro."
They both hung up, and Cabir slipped the phone back into his pocket. He looked up to find Navya glancing at him with a curious expression.
"Manik says hi," he said, with a playful smile.
Navya smiled back, shaking her head in amusement. "Tell him I said hi too."
Cabir chuckled, watching her continue to fill the cart with items. "Will do. We're almost done here, right?"
Navya nodded, still scanning the shelves. "Just a few more things."
Cabir pushed the cart forward, feeling content as he stood next to her. The evening felt simple but perfect. Grocery shopping had never seemed so enjoyable—especially when he was sharing it with her.
