It wasn't until he heard Ciel's amused remark that Rimuru realized the implications of what he had just said. He was in the wrong for wording it like that. No wonder Ciel found this amusing.

She enjoyed watching him fumble, but only when the stake wasn't high. Rimuru had noticed it since her Raphael days. At first, he had mistaken it for sadism; however, she had been shown to be anything but that.

Instead, it was adoration in its purest form. Rimuru on his own was competent, but he wasn't devoid of mistakes. Those moments when he did or said something without giving it much thought and fumbled were precious for Ciel. She adored the memories as much as she adored the man.

'N-No, maybe she won't misinterpret my generosity for anything less than pure...'

That hopeful thinking was crushed as soon as he stole a quick glance at her. With a reddened face, she grabbed her skirt hem. It was obvious what she was thinking.

"Such impropriety. But I'm a daemon, so that shouldn't matter much." The slender form swayed from one side to another. What Rimuru suspected to be joy made her unable to stand idly.

She was so obvious; it couldn't be read as anything else. Daemons in general were so obvious when they badly wanted something, as desires were their birthrights.

Though she wanted to jump headfirst at the opportunity, Rain was somewhat aware of the proprieties. He was a Demon Lord who was Guy's equal, and she was just a servant. It was like a taboo, but daemons were sinful, so it was basically an invitation for her.

She couldn't let him know, though.

"If I can save a dime or two, then it is worth sharing a roof. That is if Rimuru-sama does not mind the likes of me, of course," she spoke with a sense of modesty.

Although she tried to frame money as the main motive, he wasn't dense to the point of being fooled by her subpar acting skill.

"I don't mind. You are here because of Guy's order. He is a good friend of mine, so I will treat you well," said Rimuru.

"Rimuru-sama and Guy-sama have an amiable relationship, so I'll make sure to not cause you troubles and be a silent observer as I'm meant to be," said Rain.

Both put an emphasis on Guy's name, using his name as an excuse to start treating each other well beyond their respective roles.

Guy became useful in a time like this, too. Who would have thought? Rimuru would think about giving a gift to Guy if this went well for him.

That man, whether he knew it or not, was very helpful, even if it was just his name.

'C'mon, Ciel-san, I can hear the giggles. It's not that funny!' Rimuru thought, feeling a little flustered.

She didn't see Rain, or any contenders for Rimuru's love, as an enemy. She wouldn't root against anyone, being open-minded. But in exchange, she wouldn't help Rimuru when it came to flirting either.

If he wanted to be a casanova, then he should be able to court the girls without her help. This was a deliberate choice from Ciel. She would watch his amateur courtships with great interest, with popcorns in hand, too.

The two of them exited the labyrinth. The journalists, who had gathered around the dungeon gate in the morning, were gone. His reputation depended on how those guys spun the given information. He had a contingency plan, of course, but that didn't mean it didn't concern him in the slightest.

"So, should I accompany you further? Or should I go checking out the place I will be living at for quite some time?"

"You're tasked with observing me, no? Stick close to me then," Rimuru replied, "and when I'm done with the meeting, I can guide you around the house myself."
