Chapter 72: Pathway to Catacombe

"...Oi stop dawdling. Keep up. I've told you I wanna go back to sleep." Jun said with a sigh. "...Continue to move slow and we'll leave you behind you know?" Shiro said. "...D-Don't walk so fast by yourself. You're supposed to be my guide Sazanami, Hanagaki." Kaname said.

"Being an idol means fulfilling people's expectations of you. I've never gone out at this hour so I'm anxious. It's so dark...so scary..." He added. "Come on Sazanami. Hold my hand so I'll be reassured." He then said.

"...You're such a scaredy-cat while having the look of an action movie star. Your behavior and appearance are worlds apart. Now I find you interesting." Jun said with a smile. "...Shut up that's not interesting at all! How dare you mock me when you're not even an honored student! Unforgivable!" Kaname said.

"...Oi stop yelling for goodness sake. This area appears to be restricted and we could get into trouble if security catches us." Shiro said with a sigh. "..Although knowing the people of Catacombe they've probably already converted the security staff and other members." He added.

"....Let's go back, Sazanami, Hanagaki." Kaname suddenly said. "....Excuse me?!/Har?!" Jun and Shiro said respectively. "...This area's off-limits isn't it? I really don't want to break any rules or get into trouble and I don't want to get scolded!" Kaname said.

"I can't let anyone think I'm a bad student especially now!" He added. "...Are you for real right now? You were the one who asked us to show you the way. And the Catacombe you wanted to go is at the far end of this restricted area so we have to pass through here." Shiro said, slightly annoyed.

"...Why is this area even off-limits in the first place?! Annoying! Why does everything seems to go against me?!" Kaname complained. "...Don't ask me. Although I've heard it's some old facility built by an important person a long time ago." Jun said.

"Despite it being out of place it can't be demolished. Even the school staff like the teachers don't want to get close to it." He then said. "...Which makes it the perfect place for 'those people' to gather." Shiro said.

"Most teachers are afraid of offending that 'important person' so even if they know about it they choose to ignore the gathering." He added. "Himeru didn't you fall from grace due to some sort of taboo? Reimei seems to have a lot of those...what do you call it....? Ah right prohibitions." Jun said.

"Don't talk about me! I don't feel like myself right now! Something must be wrong!" Kaname said with a 'hmph'. "...Hai hai you're right. You're always right." Jun said with a sigh. "...Oi look there. See that light peeking through the rocks? That's the stairway down to the underground." Shiro said.

"...You're on your own from here. As said Shiro-senpai and I will get going back. It's already too much of a hassle and I'm tired." Jun said. "W-Wait! Don't leave me alone like this! You're supposed to protect me you know! I'm more important than you!" Kaname said.

...Ahhh what a drag. Shiro thought. "I don't think so. Also if you really want me to protect you hoe about you act more likable? Damn it." Jun said with a sigh. Then again the two decided to accompany Kaname further.

When they entered Kaname was surprised. "...I-Is this...?" He asked. "...Yep. This is the Catacombe you're looking for." Shiro replied. "What is this place? This is so suspicious just by its looks..." Kaname said.

"...This is why we didn't want to come here. It's eerie and it's not the season for ghost hunting yet. What are you going to do if I can't sleep at night?" Jun asked with a sigh. "Hm? Why does that even matter to me?" Kaname said bluntly.

"...You're so blatantly self-centered." Jun said. "And so? Kazehaya Tatsumi is here?" Kaname asked. "Probably. He's always here. At around the same timing if I'm not wrong. In fact he's the reason why people are gathering here. They can't function without him." Shiro said.

"Speaking of why didn't you ask Kazehaya-san to guide you in the first place? Why do i have to be dragged into this?" Jun said. "Plus they gather here every days so there's zero resources to rush. You could've waited until morning and asked Kazehaya-san to show you the way." He added.

"No way. I can't stand this miserable situation for even one more day." Kaname said. "...You're so damn spoiled you know that?" Jun said. Then again Himeru is clinging to me like a child so it's not like I can shake him off and leave....what a pain..." He then thought.

...But I'm always having my self-esteem crushed at Reimei Academy. So when someone relies on me even just a little it feels good. I guess I'm fine with it. Don't tell me Kazehaya-san is also doing something so stupid just to experience this kind of 'feeling'? He then thought as Shiro who is walking in front of them took a glance at Kaname and Jun before looking back to the front.
