"As previously said after the half time corner we will continue the Food of Wars. The time limit is 10 minutes. No more no less. But I believe with their current progress both teams will be able to finish their dish on time so I am looking forward to that! Well then since both teams are ready let the Food of Wars, continue!" Ibara said as the timer starts.
Immediately both teams continued working on their progress. "Shiro-senpai I've got the sauces and the potato starch here where do I put them?" Yuta asked. "You can add the sauces first. Then we thicken it with potato starch." Shiro said.
"Hai roger that." Yuta said as he does that. "Nii-san what else can we do?" Ren asked. "...There isn't much left to do so just prepare two bowls to put the rice in." Shiro said. "Okay~!" Ren said as he takes our two bowls.
Meanwhile with the StarLink team, they are also almost finished with their dish. "Kanzaki what else can we do?" Hokuto asked. "Umu we are almost done with our dish so there isn't much left to do. I will pour whatever we have done in the previous step into a bowl. Isara-dono please boil the ramen noodles." Souma said.
"Leave it to me!" Mao said. "Hasumi-dono please make sure Isara-dono carefully shakes off all excess water." Souma said. "Sure." Keito said. "Hidaka-dono and Yuuki-dono please rest. You have done plenty for the first half." Souma said. "Okay we will at least help with the presentation later." Makoto said.
The countdown continues as both teams try to do the finishing touch. "We don't have much time left! The competition ends in 10...9....8...7...6...5...4...3...2...1...and times up! Participants please finish up what you're doing and stop right after!" Ibara said as both teams do their finishing touch.
"Well then everyone it's time for the presentation! Let's first have the CosDi team to start us off!" He added. "Ohh we're up first? Got it we'll make it so the other team feels pressured with our dish! Shiro-senpai if you would~!" Hinata said. "....You lot really like dumping things to me don't you?" Shiro said with a sigh.
"....Well whatever. The dish we've been making is this." He added as he placed the dish on the table. "...The CosDi team present to you, the Dongpo Pork Curry Don. It's based after a chinese delicacy in China. Please eat up." He then said.
The judges said nothing as they each took a spoonful from their respective bowl and slowly put it into their mouth. "...! This is....!" The first judge said. "...How tender and juicy! With each bite the meat just explodes in my mouth!" The second judge said.
"I can't taste the spiciness at all! It's been replaced by the mild sweetness of the days and the zesty richness of the curry! It's amazingly delicious!" The third judges said as the audience screamed.
"...After I parboiled, seasoned and pan seared the pork belly Hinata and Yuta braised it in a mixture of oyster sauce, soy sauce, shaoxing wine and other seasonings. We gave it its fragrance with star anise, ginger and sichuan pepper." Shiro explained.
"...Hmm the meat is incredibly heavy and filling yet the dish is so easy to eat. I wonder why." The first judge said. "...! No it's because of the rice! They mixed a dash of rock salt and sichuan peppercorn oil into the rice!" The second judge said.
"Not only that! The refreshing scent and tongue-tingling flavour of the peppercorn oil ameliorates the oiliness of the fats but the spiciness makes you want another bite of the sweet meat it's a chain reaction!" The third judge said.
"This is too good! Too good I can't stop eating!" The first judge said as he continued eating. "Me too/Same goes for me!" The second and third judge said respectively. "My goodness! All three judges have praised the dish very well! Can the StarLink team catch up with theirs?" Ibara said.
"Well then the StarLink team please present your dish!" He added as Mao put the dish on the table. "Thanks for waiting! The dish we've made is this, Kozuyu Chicken Soy Sauce Ramen!" Mao said. "We made this based on Kozuyu but with a paitan stock and soy sauce for the kaeshi." Makoto added.
"Please eat up." Hokuto said. The judges looked at each other and nodded before taking a bite of the ramen. "...! It's strong. What an incredibly powerful umami flavour!" The first judge said.
"Plus the scallop and paitan stock forms a solid foundation for the overall flavour of the dish! Who knew that ramen and Kozuyu would complement each other this well?" The second judge said. "It seems like you've added light soy sauce and white soy sauce for the kaeshi but that isn't enough to explain this umami flavour! Where is it coming from?" The third judge asked.
"In this dish the last most important chunk of umami flavour comes from the vegetables. The burdock root, shiitake mushrooms, string beans, every vegetable we used as a topping were first dried and then simmered together with the broth." Keito said.
"I see so that's what it is. But the deliciousness is too good! I can't help but want to finish this as well!" The third judge said. "What a surprise! Both teams are praised for their dishes! It looks like it's going to be hard for the judges to decide on the winner! In that case we shall let the participants rest while the judges evaluate and decide on who to vote for!" Ibara said.
