Before the Farewell

I want to see the sky one last time,
Before the night comes to claim me,
To feel the blue that still warms me,
And the stars that want to guide me.

I want to keep the sun within my gaze,
The gentle wind touching my skin,
Before time takes away
All that my heart still holds within.

I want to hear the silence up above,
Where clouds dance slow and free,
And dreams I never dared to love,
Become promises beneath the sea.

I want to smell the earth after rain,
Wet and calm, so full of grace,
That brings new life and heals the pain,
And soothes the smallest place.

I want to see the colors of the dusk,
When the sky is dressed in fire and peace,
And remember that I still can trust,
Even when the world may cease.

I want one last embrace of wind,
To carry fears I hold inside,
To take away the pain and grieve,
And leave a garden’s gentle tide.

I want to see the sky, just one last time,
Without fear, without rush, just feel,
That despite the pain and endless whys,
It’s still worth living, it’s still real.
