Syndrome of Fear

It’s a virus,
silent,
slowly eating away
at my chest,
without warning.

Invisible tears,
falling inside,
fears that grow,
unseen by anyone.

I fight,
I smile,
but inside
I drown.

I seek a cure
in a gesture,
a glance,
a moment
of peace.

But evil lurks,
hidden,
in the shadow of being,
in pain unspoken.

I feel trapped,
in an endless cycle,
where fear is king,
and I, the prisoner.
