That's right. You've waited so long that you get two updates. Updates will be becoming a thing as the story is almost at it's end.
I love you guys and I hope that you have an amazing new year when it comes.
Summer and I got in the car and I drove out to the destination I am sure she will love. It wasn't anywhere I had ever taken her but with everything that has happened, I know it is a place she will like. It was about a 45-minute drive and we were silent throughout the journey, only my music playing in the background. Summer always chooses my music because she likes the old-school music I've got.
I pulled up at the side of the road, the closest I could get in the car. When I stopped, Summer asked where we were but I just got out the car, ignoring her with nothing but a fleeting glance in her direction. I didn't want to spoil the surprise. She followed me and slammed the door shut behind her. I needed to get stuff out of the boot to make the experience as good as it could be. I'd had this in my trunk for a while waiting for the opportunity to bring her out here. I grabbed my rucksack and held my hand out towards her after locking up the car. "Coming darling?" I asked her. She grabbed my hand warily but she allowed me to drag her into the dark forest. I didn't have a torch so it was just the natural light of the moon and stars to guide me, but I had been here so many times to think about her that I could walk it in my sleep.
"Cal? What are we doing?" She asked me, obviously confused at why I would bring her here and not the beach as usual. The beach had become our norm but I wanted to break that, we had changed and so I wanted to show her something new but just as beautiful. "You'll see. I am sure that you will love it when we get there." I grinned at her, trying not to show my newfound nerves that were crawling up my throat at the fear she won't like it. Summer gave me a slight nod as she continues to allow me to lead her along the makeshift path.
We had been walking for about ten minutes, that's how long it usually took. Just as the location came into view I felt Summer's hand tense. There was a little gasp at the same moment. She paused and I stopped with her. I turned to look at her reaction and her eyes were wide as she took it all in. I pulled out the blanket that was in my rucksack and laid it on the ground for us to sit on. I sat down and motioned for her to join me. Summer sat right by my side with excitement beaming from her face. "You love the stars, always have. And I learned on your new love for the forests and trees. We always used to go to the beach because I love it but I felt like this was the place for tonight, especially when the sky was so clear." I explained and she grinned widely at my words. I knew that Elijah was the one that showed her the beauty of the forest. I just wanted to let her know that it was fine to love the things that he taught her because it was a part of who she is, and she should never have to hide that. "Thank you. This place is amazing." She whispered as she leant into me. I grinned back at her and placed a gentle kiss on her forehead. I put my arms around her shoulders and led her to lay back. "I know. Now let's lay back and enjoy the view above." I said.
The silence in the air was broken when Summer stated out of the blue: "The stars are my favourite thing to look at." I thought about that for a while. "They are my second favourite thing to look at." I said quietly, not wanting nor having to speak loudly. "What's your favourite?" She asked me and I chuckled inwardly. "You. You are my favourite thing to look at." I admitted, being the cheesy guy I become when I am around Summer. I could imagine the bush rushing to her cheeks but I was still looking at the stars. "Why?" She wondered. "You are the most beautiful thing I have ever come to know. I like to look at beautiful things." I told her and I finally looked at her face to see her cute little face bright red. "The ocean used to be my favourite to look at before you." I told her as I took in her face. "How did the stars get second place then?" She asked, trying to catch me out, being the cheeky shit she is. "Because the stars are beautiful and pure, and they remind me of you." I told her truthfully.
