Thank you to PrincessElina1 for suggesting this one shot as well as giving me a scenario for it. That really helped write the one shot.
Amai Odayaka x Depressed! Juku Ren:
Have you ever carried the guilt of something on you? He did. He carried the guilt of the death of Kokona Haruka and Saki Miyu. He wasn't the one with the knife, yet he still felt guilty that he didn't try to prevent either death. He should've done something that day.
He remembered it like it was yesterday. His girlfriend, Saki, had been missing for nearly a week now, and he desperately worried for her. He tried to call her for the 10th time that week.
"Please pick up." He murmured as the phone rang. Eventually, he was met with the usual response.
"The person you are trying to call is unavailable right now." He held his phone in his hand, which was shaking a little.
"Have you seen Saki?" His thoughts were interrupted by the familiar voice of Saki's best friend Kokona. She looked almost as concerned as he did.
"No. She's still not answering her phone." He sighed. He didn't bother to ask if Kokona had seen her, as she wouldn't be asking if she had.
"I hope she's ok..." Kokona sighed. They both walked to their lockers in silence, meeting up by the fountain. They stood in silence, not knowing what to say to each other. The only time they usually spoke was when Saki was with them. He looked over the courtyard, and saw Saki approaching them. She looked different. She looked like she hadn't eaten or slept in several days.
"Saki!" He shouted, pointing her out to Kokona. They both ran over to her, unaware of the knife in her hand.
"Saki. I was so worried about you!" Kokona shouted, running to her best friend. Saki didn't look up from the ground or say anything. "Saki?..." Kokona said again, before Saki suddenly grabbed her shirt and forced her to the ground. Before she could react, Saki pinned her down and started repeatedly stabbing her in the chest and neck. Juku froze in place, unable to move in pure shock. Once she was done stabbing Kokona's now lifeless body, she turned the knife on herself. She shoved it into her throat, before pulling it out. Her blood splattered everywhere as she died next to her best friend.Juku stood on the school rooftop alone. He felt tears of anger and frustration run down his face. He had so many questions that would never be answered. Why did Saki attack Kokona then kill herself? Where had she been for the past week? Why hasn't he tried to stop Saki? 'You're such a coward, Juku.' The familiar voice in his head said to him. He'd heard that voice every day since Saki's death. It always scolded him for not saving Kokona. 'You were a horrible boyfriend to Saki. Why don't you kill yourself, coward.' He felt more tears running down his cheeks as he listened to that voice.
"Saki I'm sorry." He apologised, standing on the railing. He closed his eyes, preparing to fall to his death. Death to him meant the end of this depression, end of the guilt.
"What are you doing?" A voice asked, moments before he was about to fall. He opened his eyes and saw Amai looking at him, concerned.
"I can't do this anymore." He cried. He didn't fall just yet. He felt more tears fall from his eyes as Amai shook her head.
"It will get better. There wasn't anything you could've done." She tried to reassure him. He didn't believe a word she said. He looked down at the scars on his arms from the nights of anger he'd felt. He still looked at his arms as he shook his head.
"I could've prevented Saki and Kokona's deaths, but I didn't. I watched it happen like a coward." He shouted to Amai, who walked closer to the railing. "I was a terrible boyfriend to Saki. It probably wouldn't have happened if I was better to her."
"You wasn't terrible." Amai tried to comfort him, but he didn't want to listen. "Saki talked so positively about you. She even said she wanted to marry you."
"She did?" He asked, looking at Amai with more tears in his eyes. She nodded her head softly.
"Yes she did. Please get off the railing so we can talk more about this." He hesitated, before he stepped off the railing back on to the roof. She smiled sympathetically as she lead him to the cooking club room."Would she really want to see you this depressed?" Amai asked after half an hour of talking to Juku in the cooking club room. He shook his head, which was rested in his hands.
"No..." He sighed for the millionth time.
"Try to smile, ok? It will get better. I promise I won't leave your side until you feel better." She said sympathetically. She stood up and kissed him on the cheek as she headed into the kitchen area. He placed his hand on the cheek and smiled a little. Maybe there was hope for him after all.
