108: That Damsel Mother

Oka Ruto x Taro Yamada:

"Are you sure you don't mind?" Budo asked for the 10th time, handing Oka Aki's pink overnight bag. She took the bag, laughing a little. Stood next to Oka was Aki, Budo's adopted daughter.
"Of course I don't mind." She laughed. He sighed a little with relief. "I'd be in jail or probably dead if it wasn't for you guys, so I probably owe you one." She laughed a little. He and Megami had helped get her out of prison after Ayano had framed her, then he had helped her again when Ayano had tried to kidnap her.
"Thank you so much, Oka." He sighed, before Megami walked over. Budo and Juku were going to a martial arts competition, and their girlfriends Megami and Nemesis were going to support them. He needed a babysitter to take care of Aki while he was away, and had asked Oka to take care of her.
"Budo, we should leave or we'll be late." She said to him, before smiling at Oka. "Thank you so much, Oka." She smiled, giving the smaller girl a hug. "See you on Sunday." She said as she and Budo headed for the car after he gave his daughter a final kiss and cuddle before he left for the weekend. He hadn't spent a night away from Aki since adopting her, but trusted Oka. Nemesis and Juku were already in the car waiting for Megami and Budo.
"Bye daddy!" Aki yelled, waving goodbye to the car as it drove away. She knew her dad was going to go away for a couple of days and she was going to stay with Oka. They stood outside until the car was out of sight before heading inside.

"Time for bed, Aki." Oka sighed, trying to catch the toddler. It was 15 minutes after Aki's bedtime, and she wasn't going to bed any time soon.
"No!" She shouted as she ran past Oka again, making her sigh. She was getting exhausted from chasing Aki.
"Aki, please." She begged, collapsing on the sofa. Aki didn't seem to care as she continued running around the house. Oka wasn't very assertive, and that wasn't working in her favour. She reached for her phone and called her boyfriend, hoping he would know.
Taro: Hey Oka. How you doing?
Oka: Not good.
Taro: What's wrong?
Oka: Aki isn't listening to me and it's driving me insane.
Taro: Don't panic, Oka. I'll be over in 5 minutes to help out.
Oka: Thank you so much.

Taro arrived 5 minutes later, like he said he would. He knew exactly how to deal with Aki's bad behaviour. She watched him, hoping to pick up some tips on how to be more assertive.
"How do you do it?" She asked quietly as he closed the spare door to Aki's temporary bedroom while she was staying at Oka's house. He shrugged his shoulders.
"I had to take care of Hanako when she was younger. That was easy in comparison." He smirked, picking his girlfriend up bridal style.
"Thank you." She murmured, kissing his cheek. He blushed a little as he carried her down the stairs.
"Don't mention it. I'll stay and help you care for her if you want." He offered. She smiled, relieved and happy. She almost knew she wouldn't be able to care for Aki by herself, so Taro would be a great help to her.

The next day, Oka came down the stairs to find Aki sat at the kitchen table while Budo made pancakes. He looked over to her and smiled.
"Morning Taro." She smiled at him, sitting down at the table with Aki. He smiled, placing a pancake on the plate in front of Aki.
"Morning Oka. Aki woke up at about 7am, so I brought her down here so you could sleep." He smiled, putting more pancake mix into the pan so it could cook. Oka helped Aki put some sprinkles on to her pancake before the toddler made a huge mess.
"I heard the fair is in town." Oka said, smiling a little. "Do you want to go to the fair, Aki?" Oka asked the toddler in front of her.
"Yeah!" Aki cheered a little, her mouth full of pancake. Taro and Oka laughed a little as he placed the now cooked pancake on the plate in front of Oka. She smiled, blushing a little. She always blushed when Taro did nice things for her, even though they had been dating for a while.

Taro and Oka held Aki's hands as they walked around the fair. The toddler wanted to run around, but Taro didn't want to let her go incase she was taken or got lost.
"I want to go on the horses!" Aki shouted, pulling Oka and Taro over to the carousel. They both laughed a little at the girl's excitement.
"Do you want to take her on the ride, Oka?" He asked his girlfriend, who was smiling. She nodded his head as Taro let go of Aki's hand. He stood at the side while Aki and Oka went on the carousel, taking photos to send to Budo of his daughter. They were unaware that they were being followed by Ayano. Taro hadn't bothered to phone the police, as he believed Ayano would leave them alone when he told her he would hate her if she did anything to Oka. Ayano passionately hated Oka. She didn't care for his warning, he would love her in the end. She kept watching them as they walked away from the ride once Oka and Aki were done.

That evening, Oka and Taro sat in the front room cuddling on the sofa while Aki slept upstairs. They had spent the entire day at the fair, and had become even closer than they already were.
"You'd make a good mum, Oka." He murmured, ruffling her hair a little. She looked at him, a little confused but blushing heavily.
"I'm not ready to be a mum yet." She panicked. She assumed that was what he was suggesting. He kissed her nose, calming her down a little.
"Relax, Oka. I wasn't saying now." He laughed. She sighed a littler with relief, playfully hitting his arm lightly. "Maybe in a few years..."
"Not until I'm married." She said, smirking. He laughed, kissing her cheek.
"Alright then." He laughed. "I'm going to marry you, then we're going to have a family together." He promised. She blushed, snuggling closer.
"That sounds good." She said a little quietly. He kissed her again on the lips, still just as in love with her as when she confessed to him. For that moment, everything was perfect, but they would never truly be at peace together until Ayano was behind bars.
