"A-are you ready?" Oka asked her club members as she sat down on the rug. They were attempting to summon a demon, and Oka was hopeful it would be a success.
"Yeah." Shin said as the rest of the club nod their heads in agreement. A small smile appears on Oka's face.
"Excellent. I hope it works this time." She said quietly before beginning the ritual. They were trying something new today, hoping to succeed. As Oka finishes chanting the ritual, the candles immediately lost their flame, and the room descended into darkness.
"W-what's happening?" Supana cried as the club began to panic. That was when the demon spawned in front of them. You. The occult club members looked at you, a mixture of fear and confusion. They had succeeded, and they didn't know how to react.
"P-please don't hurt us." You heard the club leader beg. You turned to look at her, disliking how scared she was. She was cute, not even you could deny. You knew there were other people in the room, but all you could focus on was her. Maybe because she seemed the most human to you.
"Why would I do that?" You laugh. The club continue to stare at you in complete confusion. "Not all demons are violent, you know."
"S-sorry." Oka stuttered. You laugh and place your feet down on the ground, making the candles around you relight.
"Just a misunderstanding. I get it. There is something you can do for me, humans." You say, smirking. The club look at each other, confused, until someone else decides to speak up.
"What do you want?" A male asked. He had short hair, and was the only male without one of his eyes covered. You turn to look at him for a moment, before smiling.
"Show me the human realm." You insist before turning into a human female form. You have a pretty face, (h/l) (h/c) hair and (e/c) eyes. You turn your attention back to Oka, smiling a little. "You can show me around."
"S-sure." She stutters, a small blush on her cheeks. She was in disbelief. A demon actually wanted to spend time with her.The next day, you and Oka walk through the school as she shows you things. You had spent the night at hers, learning more about the human culture. It was so confusing, it didn't really help Oka stuttered when she tried to explain something to you, but you eventually understood enough to fit in convincingly.
"Did you know I can read anyone like a book?" You ask, a small smile appearing on your face. She looks up at you, shaking her head. She also has a small smile on her face, curiosity in her eyes. "I can see who has walls up, who's hiding behind masks, who pretends to be someone they're not. You don't, I can tell, but she has a mask on." You point to the small girl at the end of the corridor. Oka immediately recognises her as Cupa.
"C-Cupa? Are you sure?" Oka stuttered in clear confusion. You nod your head, continuing to look at her. You can't see her for what she is, instead seeing a large, heavy, happy mask. You can't see what lies underneath it, but you know it's there.
"Positive. She's not as happy as she appears." You note. Oka takes hold of your hand, making you blush a little. She starts pulling you in her direction.
"We should find out what's wrong, then." She insists, not stuttering at all. It's the first time she hasn't stuttered when she spoke to you. You could clearly see genuine good intent in her, and that made you feel better. "Cupa." The small girl holding your hand calls, getting the brunettes attention. Cupa turns around with a smile plastered on her face. If you couldn't see her smile as a mask, you'd assume she was completely fine.
"Hi Oka. Who's this?" Cupa asked, pointing at you. She is still smiling, but you know it's fake. It's convincing, but false.
"Oh, this is (y/n)." Oka introduced you. She doesn't stutter when she talks to Cupa, so you can tell they're close. "Can we talk to you in private, please?" Oka asked. The smaller girl looked a little confused, but nodded her head anyway.
"S-sure." She stuttered a tiny bit. Oka smiled and took hold of her hand, leading both girls to the storage room beside the occult club."What did you want to talk about, Oka?" Cupa asked as Oka closed the door behind her. She looked at Cupa, a little concerned.
"Are you ok, Cupa?" She asked softly. You could almost see Cupa's mask flicker for a moment, but you couldn't see what it hid.
"I'm fine, Oka." She laughed, even though you could tell it was fake. You knew she was holding back her words, and you were determined to find out what they were.
"No, you're not." You insist, surprising Cupa. You and her both made eye contact. She had a smile on her face but all you could see in her eyes was doubt and sadness. "Tell is what's wrong." You ask her. She shakes her head, sighing.
"It's something I don't want to talk about." She sighed sadly. The mask slipped off her face, and the true Cupa revealed herself to you. She was the image of depression, hurting inside.
"Please. I want to know so I can help you." Oka begged. Cupa shook her head and blinked, making a tear roll down her cheek. She really didn't want to talk about her problem.
"It's just... home troubles, that's all." She smiled unconvincingly. Oka knew better than to ask anything else, she wouldn't talk about it if she didn't want to, but you were persistent. You wanted to know.
"Why won't you tell us?" You sigh. Cupa also sighed, wiping away her tears and smiling. It wasn't real, and her mask was starting to creep back up.
"I don't want to burden anyone with my problems." She sighed. You could see she was telling the truth. "I don't want anyone to feel the way I do. Don't worry about me, Oka. I'll be fine." She insisted, hugging her.You and Oka stood back in the occult club that evening together. The rest of the club wasn't there yet, so it was just you and Oka. You had to go back to the demon world, and you could see that upset Oka.
"Do you have to go?" Oka asked sadly. She wanted you to stay, but you didn't have a choice. You nod your head sadly before turning back into demon form.
"I'm afraid so." You sigh. Tears of disappointment form in Oka's eyes, but neither of you let them fall. "Don't look so sad, Oka. If you want to talk, you know how to summon me." You reassure her. She smiled a little, making you smile."Just not everyday, though." She laughed and threw her arms around you. When she let go, you held on to her hands and suddenly kissed her on the lips. You both blushed heavily as you broke the kiss. You give her a bright smile and step into the centre of the circle, chanting some words Oka didn't understand. Suddenly, the candle flames disappeared, and the room descended into darkness. When the lights came back on, you were gone, leaving Oka alone in the room. Her cheeks were bright red, and she had a small smile on her face.
"I miss you already, (y/n)." She murmurs to herself as the club members enter the room.
