18: Burning Love

The idea for this one shot came from the Burning Love visual novel. I knew almost immediately who I'm shipping Flame Demon with, so yeah. Please leave suggestions.

Oka Ruto x Flame Demon:

Oka was about to lock up the occult club when she noticed something. The knife that was usually inside the skull was now on the floor. She picked it up, and felt something wet on her hand. She turned over the knife to reveal blood smeared all over the blade. A chill ran down her spine as the metallic scent of blood hit her nose. She looked around the room, hoping to find someone who knew why there was blood on the knife. She felt too scared to go and find out incase they thought she was the perpetrator. Instead, she slipped it back into the skull hoping no one would notice. She didn't expect everything around her to turn black as she was teleported to the demon realm.

She looked around her new surroundings, and was immediately approached by someone, or something. Oka could only assume it was a demon. Their looks immediately reminded Oka of Sakyu Basu.
"Ara, ara! What a cute little thing." It cooed, pinching Oka's cheek. She whimpered in pain as the demon pinched harder.
"P-please let me go..." She stuttered, trying to get the demon to let her go. The demon simply laughed. She was approached by another demon, who grabbed her arm.
"Descendants must feel what I felt." It muttered, starting to twist her arm. Her scream alerted another demon of her presence.
"Let her go." It ordered. The demon who was holding her arm let her go as it and the one that kinda looked like Sakyu left the area quickly.
"T-thank you." She stuttered, looking up at her saviour. The demon had flames for a head and hands, and wore what looked like the typical school uniform.
"A mortal? Here? How curious..." It thought out loud. She began to shake in fear, unknowing of her fate. "What brought you here, mortal?" It asked, looking down at her.
"I-I-I just put a b-bloody knife into a s-skull." She stuttered, trying to stop shaking. The demon nodded it's head slowly.
"Do you wish to borrow my power?" It asked, looking at the girl again. She shook her head quickly, her body still shaking.
"N-no thanks..." She stuttered, taking a deep breath.
"You don't?" It asked in clear confusion. Usually, any mortal who wound up in the demon realm wanted power as soon as it was offered to them, but she was different. She interested him greatly. "What do you want?"
"I-I don't know..." She shrugged her shoulders and looked up at the demon. They both stood in silence, in thought. "I want to get to know you." She finally stuttered.
"You what?" He asked, her words continuing to surprise him. Nobody wanted to get to know him, not even the other demons.
"I want to get to know you." She repeated herself a little quieter. She expected to be laughed at for asking for something like that from a powerful demon.
"Very well." The demon replied instead. "Take me to one of your favourite places in the human realm." He ordered as he lightly pushed her into the circle on the floor to take them back to the human realm.

They sat in a park by themselves looking at the pitch black sky. The only light came from the street lamp above them, as the flame demon had decided to present himself in a male human form.
"You like this place?" He asked, raising an eyebrow. She nodded her head quickly.
"Y-yeah. It's better at night because it's calmer than day." She admitted, a small smile appearing on her face. She tried to not stutter and be more confident.
"I agree." He nodded his head and looked at her. "Tell me something about yourself, mortal." He ordered. She looked at him, then down at her hands.
"M-my name's Oka Ruto. I'm 18 years old. I like anything related to the occult, and I'm kinda very shy..." She said, her voice getting quieter with each fact about herself. He laughed a little, a genuine smile on his face. "What about you?" She looked back up at him.
"Well..." He didn't really know what to say to her. No one had asked about him in centuries. "I discarded my human name and human body many, many years ago. I watched my parents beaten, and burned alive by peasants who were jealous of my family's wealth. I made a deal with a demon to take my revenge. Once I was done, I went back to the demon realm for the rest of eternity until now. I have seen other mortals before today, but they were as selfish as the people who killed my parents. You, however. You aren't like those people, miss Ruto." He looked at her and smiled. She blushed and smiled back. They remained for a few more hours getting to know each other.
"I should probably go home to my parents now." She said sadly, looking at the time on her phone, and seeing it was nearly midnight.
"Very well, mortal. Goodnight." He stood up and gave her a kiss on the cheek. Both of them blushed as an awkward silence came across them. "You know where to find me if you want to. I hope to see you again." He said, running away from the awkwardness. She blushed and smiled, placing her hand on the cheek.
"Maybe the world isn't such a dark and lonely place after all..."
