AU! Scientist! Taro Yamada x Robot! Oka Ruto & Dead! Ayano Aishi:

Taro sat in his office idly playing with the ring in his hand. He was going to propose to his girlfriend Ayano with it, but he couldn't now. She had died nearly a month ago, and he missed her terribly. He was lonely and heartbroken. He began to search through his computer for an idea before it came to him. He could build a robot to replace Ayano. He began to code, creating a program to bring his idea to life.

After a few years, at the age of 25, he finally succeeded. He had created a robot to replace Ayano. He had created a female robot that looked like any regular human. He had named her Oka, and she had short messy bluish hair and bright violet eyes. He had decided against making her a clone of Ayano, even though he missed her. He made a silent prayer before running the code that would give Oka life. She turned on, and sat up to look at Taro. They sat in silence, just staring at each other. He was in disbelief, he had just done it. He had brought a robot to life.

She learned everything by watching him. He taught her how to function like a normal human being, even though she was a robot. The only thing he couldn't teach was emotion. She felt nothing. He wanted to give her all the memories of him and Ayano, but couldn't. He tried to figure out how, but never succeeded. He named it 'Project Heart', but it never succeeded. He spent most of his life locked up in his office trying to figure out how to transfer the memories. Eventually, he died at age 60. He probably would have died sooner if he didn't have Oka to keep him in check.

20 years after Taro's death, Oka began to look through the computer for an unknown reason. She found a file titled 'Project Heart'. She was curious about what it did, and pressed install. As soon as it had installed, she felt something for the first time. She had all Ayano's memories of her happy times with Taro. Now he was gone. He died not even knowing that project heart had been a success. She began to shake as she collapsed to the floor. Water began to run down from her eyes as she sobbed for her creator. He had given her the capacity to cry, but the inability to feel an emotion. Now she could cry, and that's exactly what she was doing. After a solid 10 minutes of sobbing she stood up, heading out of the house and walking through the street.

She walked through the street, memories flooding in her mind. They weren't her memories, yet they overwhelmed her. The streets had changed so much since the memories of Ayano and Taro, and it was like she could barely recognise them. She began to wish she'd never installed project heart. The loneliness had began to set in. She could see other people laughing and having fun together while nobody looked in her direction. It was starting to weigh on her, and she hated it.

She sat back at Taro's computer, frowning to herself. She was searching for a way to uninstall the code, even if that shut down the rest of her systems. She didn't want these memories making her so sad. She'd watched Taro die almost 20 years ago, and she only now felt sad for him. She eventually found the code. She'd learnt coding from Taro when he first brought her to life, and now she was looking for the adjustments to remove the memories. At the end of the code, she found a footnote, which was addressed to her.
Oka
If you're reading this, you found what I intended for you. I'm sorry that I never succeeded in giving you emotions, or the memories I so desperately wanted you to have. I want to tell you what the memories are about. I met a girl, her name was Ayano, and I immediately fell in love. She died in a horrible accident just days before I planned to propose to her. That's when I created you to fill her place. I could never give you her memories, or any emotion, so you could never fill the role I wanted you to. I'm sorry. I don't want you to fill her role anymore, I've grown to love you for who you have turned out to be. If you ever correct my code and become able to feel emotions, please embrace that. Please don't undo my work, no matter how sad some of the memories may become. It's just the balance of life. I want you to do something for me. I want you to go out and make your own happy memories. That's the least you deserve.
All my love, Taro. <3

She sat on a hill watching the sun set late that evening. That had been one of Taro's favourite past times. That had done this a few times when Taro was still alive, but this was the first time she had been able to truly enjoy it. She sighed a little, determined to live her life the way Taro had told her to. Her hands idly played with the ring Taro had given her when he first made her, the ring that he planned to propose to Ayano with.
