Ayano Aishi x Sho Kunin:
There was something about Ayano that attracted Sho. He was first introduced to her when she joined the martial arts club. He didn't speak to her, as she only ever came to the club for activities, until they were partnered up to spar against each other.
Her face lacked emotion like usual. Her eyes were blank and soulless. She focused solely on the task at hand.
"So... what made you sign up for the club?" Sho asked as they both raised their fists into a protection position. Ayano shrugged her shoulders, her face not changing.
"I wanted to be stronger and able to fight back." She said, her voice as void of emotion as her face. He could tell she wasn't like anyone else he'd met. "What about you?" He didn't expect her to ask. He casually shrugged his shoulders before giving her an answer.
"I've been training since I was little, mostly to protect myself." She nodded her head as the pair began to spar.Over the past few months, he developed a close friendship with Ayano. She had also began to fall deeply in love with Taro. She would talk to Sho about him all the time, but he mostly didn't mind. He saw a new side of her when she spoke of him. She showed emotion. He also had began to develop feelings for her. He loved every part of her. He saw the way she lit up for Taro, and wished she would light up for him.
Then one day it changed.
She walked into the club room, and was different. She usually had an emotionless expression, but this one was mixed with sadness. She looked broken.
"Are you ok, Ayano?" He asked the second she walked into the room. She shook her head, dislodging the tears in her eyes. He immediately ran to her and wrapped his arms around her while she cried.
"Someone confessed." Was all she managed to choke out as she cried more. Her arms wrapped around him as she held him tighter as she cried.
"Don't cry for him, Ayano. He wasn't worth it." He comfortingly said. That didn't stop her tears. He knew she was hurting, and all he could do was be there for her.Over the next couple of weeks, Ayano changed dramatically. She had stopped taking care of herself, feeling like she wasn't worth anything. She lost weight, and her bones had started to become visible. She only seemed to eat when Sho begged her to. She was very broken, no matter how hard he tried to help her.
As he laid in his bed, he had a thought. 'What if I confess my feelings for her. Maybe knowing someone loves her would help.' He stood up and headed for the door. He was going to confess. Even if she didn't accept his confession, it could help her mental state.
He ran to her house and knocked on the door. He didn't get an answer. He started to worry. She had expressed her desire to end her life, and he genuinely feared she would do it. He slammed on the door harder. He still got no answer. He tried to open the door, and was relieved to see it was open. He ran into her room and that's when he saw it. Ayano's lifeless body hanging from the ceiling by a rope.
He sat under the cherry blossom tree alone. It was Friday, the day people confessed their feelings. He couldn't confess. He was too late. If he'd just told her how he felt earlier, maybe she would still be here. He grew a passionate hatred for Taro. He blamed him for Ayano's suicide. He'd left her heartbroken, and eventually that heart stopped beating. He took a breath, and watched the petals fall from the tree. He barely noticed the tears falling from his eyes.
"I'm sorry, Ayano. I'm sorry I couldn't save you. I'm sorry I couldn't tell you I loved you."
