Budo felt the cold autumn breeze bite into his jumper as he walked. He silently cursed himself for allowing his phone to run out of charge, so he had to walk in silence. He sighed as the rain began to fall. His parents had been killed a few months ago in a car accident, and he was still grieving for them. He heard a faint crying coming from an alleyway. Curiosity got the best of him, so he decided to go into the alley. Inside, he found a small baby girl inside a cardboard box. She couldn't have been older than a week old. She had platinum hair and forest green eyes. He picked her up and cradled her until she stopped crying. He immediately developed a bond with her, and decided he couldn't just give her up. Instead, he decided to raise her as his own. That night, he became a single father to a baby girl he had named Aki, which meant Autumn in Japanese.

Present day:

Megami and Budo sat in the courtyard together cuddling. It had been a few months since they had started dating, and Megami still didn't know about Budo's daughter Aki. She closed her eyes for a moment, but opened them when she heard a voice.
"Hi Megami. Hi Budo." She opened her eyes and saw Oka walking towards her, holding her boyfriend Taro's hand. Oka had been framed for murder by Ayano, and had only recently gotten out of prison. Taro had confessed his feelings for her the Friday after her release. He had definitely brought the shy occult club president out of her shell, and Budo, Taro, Megami and Oka had become a close knit group.
"Hello Oka. Hello Taro." Megami said, making space for them to both sit. They sat down and Megami and Taro reached for their lunches in their respective bags. Budo had forgotten his lunch, even though he had made Aki's, and Oka didn't have any. Megami watched a little jealously as Taro fed Oka some of his lunch.
"You're still coming over tonight, aren't you Oka?" Taro asked, putting a piece of his sushi into his mouth.
"Yeah. I can't wait." Oka smiled happily. Megami couldn't help but feel a little bit jealous, as she had never been to Budo's house.
"Maybe I should come to your house one day." Megami said to her boyfriend, who nearly choked on his water. She didn't know about Aki, and was a little nervous for her reaction.
"Maybe." He managed to choke out. Megami kept hitting his back gently as he continued choking on water.

That evening, Megami sat in the student council room with Budo's belongings waiting for him to return from the bathroom so they could walk together. Her eyes fell on his phone, which was placed on the top of his stuff. She was curious, as he was very secretive. He turned it on to reveal his lock screen, which was a picture of him and Aki. She was confused, as he had never mentioned the toddler to her. She unlocked the phone and continued looking at his pictures. The one that interested him the most was a picture of him and the toddler together, with him wearing a '#1 Dad' badge on his shirt. Just at that moment, Budo walked in to the room.
"Care to explain this?" Megami said coldly to him, hearing him enter. His face turned pale as she showed him the picture.
"I can explain." He said, breathing deeply. She threw his phone back at him, sitting on the desk.
"I'm listening." She nodded her head. He took a deep breath nervously as he sat on a different desk facing her.
"I found her abandoned a few years ago. I couldn't find it in my heart to give her up, as I was still grieving for the loss of my parents. I've raised her as my daughter for the past 2 years. I didn't want to tell you as I was afraid you wouldn't want to be with me." Megami sighed at him. She stood up and placed her hand on his shoulder.
"I wouldn't leave you because of that. I think it's very admirable, what you've done for her." Megami complimented, making him blush. "What did you name her?"
"Aki."
"That's a beautiful name. Can I meet her?" She asked. Budo's eyes widened a little. This was the exact opposite reaction of what he expected from her.
"Sure. Come to mine tomorrow at 10am, ok?" Megami nodded her head as they left the student council room.

"Would you mind if daddy had a girlfriend?" Budo asked Aki as he tucked her into bed that night.
"Daddy has a girlfriend?" She asked innocently, giggling. He laughed also. "Would she be like a mama to me?" She asked. Budo shrugged his shoulders, smiling.
"Maybe. She's coming over tomorrow so you can meet her." He said.
"Yay!" Aki cheered, as they both laughed.
"Goodnight princess." Budo said, kissing her forehead and left her to sleep.

The next day, Budo sat in his front room with Aki waiting for Megami to arrive. Almost as soon as it hit 10am, Budo heard the door bell. He knew it was Megami.
"I'll go get it. Wait in here, ok Aki?" The toddler nodded her head, continuing to draw. He stood up to answer the door and allow Megami in. About a minute later, they both came into the room, getting Aki's attention. "Aki, this is my girlfriend Megami. Megami, this is my daughter Aki." He introduced them. Aki wobbled over to Megami and reached her arms to her, silently asking to be picked up.
"You brought a mama to me, father." Aki giggled as she was picked up by Megami. Tears pricked her eyes as she remembered her own mother, who had passed away when she was 3. She was suddenly overwhelmed by this toddler, while Budo's face turned red with embarrassment.
"Yeah." Megami smiled at the toddler. "Me, you and your daddy will all be one big happy family someday." She told the toddler, who cheered with excitement.

"Come on, Aki. Nap time." Budo instructed. Aki shook her head firmly, crossing her arms.
"No. I'm playing with Meg-Meg." She whined as Budo picked her up. Megami laughed a little every time she heard the nickname Budo's daughter had given her.
"She'll still be here after your nap." He told her, carrying her up the stairs while she protested her tiredness. Megami watched them and smiled at their closeness. She'd never been that close to her father. She looked at her phone and saw she had a notification from a local news app. Her jaw dropped when she read the headline.

Ayano Aishi had escaped prison.
