Oka Ruto x Budo Masuta:
Budo stood nervously by the locker, waiting for the right opportunity. In his shaky hand was a note. He looked around, before posting the note in to the locker. The note was addressed to Oka Ruto, leader of the occult club. The note was asking her to meet him under the cherry blossom tree from the school legend after school that day. The legend stated that if you confess to someone under the tree on a Friday, they are guaranteed to accept. Budo desperately wanted her to accept. After slipping the note into Oka's locker, he ran back to the martial arts club room.
That lunch, Budo waited for Oka on the school rooftop so they could eat together like they usually did. That was the highlight of his day. He sat down and saw Oka walking over to him. She looked genuinely happy.
"Someone's in a good mood." Budo said with a hint of sarcasm once she sat down beside him. She laughed a little, Budo loved her laugh even though he rarely heard it.
"Yeah. Someone posted this in my locker." She smiled, pulling out Budo's note. He hid his blush and smile away from her. He pretended to read it before passing it back.
"Wow. Are you going to meet them?" Budo asked. He acted in a joking manner, but was serious. He wanted to know if she would meet him. She blushed a little, smiling.
"Yes." She said, giggling a little. A wave of relief crossed Budo. She would meet him. He took his lunch out of his bag, as she did the same.
"Who do you think the note came from?" Budo asked, putting a piece of his sushi into his mouth. She shrugged her shoulder, eating a piece of her bento.
"I don't know." She admitted once she was done with her first bite. Budo smiled out of her sight. He found it amusing she didn't think he'd want to meet her. Or maybe she did, but didn't want to embarrass herself by suggesting it. They continued eating until he caught her eyeing his sushi.
"Would you like a piece?" He asked. She looked up at him, blushing slightly. She nodded her head softly, feeling a little embarrassed that she'd been caught eyeing his food. He laughed slightly as he fed her a piece of sushi from his lunch. That day after club activities, Budo waited under the cherry blossom tree for Oka. He had finished his club activities early so he could get to the tree before she did. He watched the sun setting in the distance with his back to the school until he heard someone panting nearby. He turned around and saw Oka behind him. She stopped in front of him, panting heavily. She caught her breath for a minute before looking up and seeing Budo.
"Budo? You sent that note?" She asked, breathing deeply. She seemed surprised, she didn't expect the anonymous note sender to be him.
"Yeah." He said, blushing slightly. She also blushed, looking up at him innocently. "Oka. Ever since I met you, I knew you were special. I never realised that I had feelings for you until now. I hope you don't hate me after what I've told you." He sighed a little. Oka was left speechless by his confession. She took his hand gently, making them both blush more. He kissed her gently and passionately. She didn't hesitate to kiss back as he closed his eyes. That's where it ends.
That's where it always ends.
His eyes opened, and he was back in his dark bedroom. It was 4:15am. He could feel tears forming in his eyes as he tried to remember the dream. The one where he confessed his feelings for Oka was his favourite, but it always ended when he kissed her. He sighed, remembering his dream could never become reality. Oka had died nearly a month ago now. He still remembered holding her in his arms as she took her final breaths. The vision of her body when he found her was imprinted in his memory. She had been mercilessly tortured by the Basu sisters, who hadn't returned to Akademi High school since. He hated them for what they did, but he hated himself more for not believing her when she told him about them earlier that day.
"Oka, I'm sorry." He murmured, holding her diary against his chest. He'd been given it the day after she'd died, and it provided him with comfort. He missed her, but he was simply too late. This one shot was going to be happier, and have a different ending, but I decided to make it a continuation of 'I Should've Believed You' if you didn't already guess. I wrote that one shot exactly one month ago, and I'd been meaning to write a part 2 for it. Please leave me suggestions. ❤
