40: Salty and Sweet

Amai Odayaka x Budo Masuta:

Amai pulled a batch of cookies out of the oven, smiling to herself. She was at her club after school that day, and decided to make her club some cookies. After they were cool enough, she plated them and presented them to her club members.
"These are really good." Kokona smiled as she bit into the cookie. The other girls nodded in agreement as Amai smiled.
"You should give some to Budo." Saki grinned, eating more of her cookie as Amai's cheeks turned as red as Yui's hair. It was no secret to the cooking club that Amai had a crush on the martial arts club president.
"Are you sure? What if he hates them." Amai said to her club. She was shy, and wanted Budo to like her.
"He won't hate them." Koharu said, as she took another cookie. Amai sighed and nodded her head.
"I hope not." She sighed. She took some of the cookies from the plate and put them on a separate plate to give to Budo and his club.

Budo was training with his club when they heard a light knock at the door. Budo opened the door, and saw Amai standing at the door.
"What brings you here?" He asked the cooking club president, smiling widely. She blushed a little and held the plate in her hand out to him.
"I made these for you." She said quietly, blushing harder when he took the plate.
"Thanks Amai." He smiled, also blushing. He had developed a crush on Amai when she first brought cookies to the martial arts club on their first year. He offered them round to his club members before taking one for himself. "This is really good, Amai." Budo smiled, his mouth full of cookie.
"It is?" She asked, blushing. Budo nodded his head and watched Amai go to run away from the club before she exploded with happiness. "Amai, wait!" He called to her before she was out of earshot. She walked back, hands behind her back and blushing.
"Yeah?" She asked shyly.
"Would you be able to teach me how to make these?" She nodded her head, a little lost for words. He grinned as she tried to say something. "How about tomorrow after school." She nodded her head again before walking away from the club room, screaming internally with excitement.

The next day after school, both Amai and Budo had cancelled their club activities so Amai could teach Budo to bake the cookies she'd given him yesterday.
"Ok... so we need 4oz butter, 3oz caster sugar and 3oz brown sugar in the mixing bowl." Amai instructed. Budo nodded his head and followed the rest of her instructions exactly as she told him.
"That wasn't too difficult." Budo grinned as Amai placed the batch of cookies into the oven to cook.
"Now the best part." She grinned to him, holding up 2 spoons. He took one and they both got a bit of leftover cookie dough from the bottom of the bowl. She put it in her mouth, before spitting it out seconds later.
"That's really salty." Budo complained as he also spat out his spoonful.
"What did you put in that?" She asked, searching her ingredients for the culprit. Eventually she found it. "Budo, this is salt, not caster sugar."
"Oh, crap." Budo gasped when he learned of his mistake. They both looked at the cookies in the oven, deciding what to do with them.

They sat at the table with the plate of salty cookies in front of them.
"Are we really doing this?" Amai asked as they both took a cookie. Budo nodded his head, looking Amai in the eyes. "Ok then... 3... 2... 1..." She closed her eyes and prepared to take a bite, knowing the cookie was going to taste awful. Budo batted the cookie out of her hand once her eyes were closed and kissed her on the lips. She froze for a moment in shock, before kissing him back. They were both red when they finally broke off the kiss.
"Amai, I have a crush on you." Budo admitted, holding on to her hands lightly. "I want you to be my girlfriend." She gasped a little in shock, nodding her head as she was rendered speechless.
"I've had a crush on you as well Budo. Yes, I'll be your girlfriend." Amai blushed once her voice had returned. They kissed again, only to be interrupted by loud cheer outside the room.
"OTP!" Saki yelled as Kokona tried to drag her away.
"Sorry!" Kokona apologised loudly to the pair, managing to pull Saki away from the cooking club room to give Amai and Budo some privacy. They didn't hesitate to continue kissing.
