The Ghost Crew One-shots

A boy named Ezra part 11

The ramp opened, revealing Commander Sato and Ashoka Tano. "Ghost crew"Commander Sato  said while walking closer to the crew that was now on the ramp. There was no small boy in plain sight but if someone looked closely, they would see a small figure behind Kanan Jarrus.

"Commander Sato"Hera said friendly, greeting him. "How are you doing?"Commander Sato asked. "We are doing just fine" Hera said friendly as Ashoka walked up behind Commander Sato revealing herself completely. Ezra while still behind Kanan looked up at Ashoka immeditely feeling her force signature. "Hello, ghost crew"Ashoka said calmy but as she was about to continue she felt a strong force signature coming from behind Kanan. With Ashoka's skill she clearly knew that wasnt Kanan's signature. Ashoka titled her head, trying to see behind Kanan. Her full attention was at this new force signature. Kanan quickly noticed where Ashoka is looking, while Ezra is hiding even more behind him "It's okay Ezra, she is not going to hurt you. She's a Jedi like me". Ezra innocently looked up at Kanan, asking for another confirmation that its safe. Kanan nodded and the small boy revealed himself to Ashoka, not standing behind Kanan anymore. Ashoka came closer to the raven haired boy, kneeling down so she can speak to him at his height "Hi there..my name is Ashoka, Ashoka Tano..what's your name?"Ashoka asked with a friendly smile. Her voice was so calming causing Ezra to relax more "I u-um I'm Ezra". The small boy managed to answer. "Nice to meet you Ezra"Ashoka said gently as Commander Sato came up to the smaller boy "Hello, Ezra Bridger". But the child in front of him shyed away back to Kanan, hiding behind him again. The commander looked up at Kanan asking for guidance with the boy. Kanan chuckeled and shook his head slightly. The other man nodded at Kanan's response as stepped away. But just as Commander Sato was about to turn his back a soft voice was heard coming from behind Kanan "N-nice to m-meet you......" Ezra said and clinged on Kanan even more. The Commander softly smiled and nodded as Ezra smiled back looking away. Sato turned his attention towards the adults "Shall we discuss the mission?" The Ghost crew nodded and followed Commander Sato as they started heading inside the rebel base. But halfway there Kanan stopped as Hera turned around facing him in concern..

"Kanan?"Hera asked. "I'll come soon, you go ahead"Kanan answered with Ezra peeking behind him. Hera nodded and caught up to the others. The man with the pony tail turned his attention to the younger boy as he kneeled down on his height.

"We will be discussing the mission with Commander Sato now, how about you and Ashoka get a little more time to know eachother while we are on the meeting, what do you think?" Kanan said as he glanced at Ahsoka that was now behind them, she nodded in response. Ezra was silent for a few moments but quickly nodded "S-sure!" he said and turned to face Ahsoka smiling softly. "Im glad he likes her" Kanan thought. The older man stood back up and started heading towards the command centre "See you soon", "see you" Ezra said softly.

WITH EZRA AND ASHOKA...

"Hey Ezra.. how about we go to the I meditate ?, it's pretty quiet there"Ashoka asked looking at the boy. "S-sure, wwhere ever you wanna go.."Ezra answered looking away a little nervous. He was never completely seperated from the crew since he met them, so this was new to him. Ahsoka smiled gently and gestured Ezra to follow her.

AT THE FIELD CLOSE TO THE MARKER FENCE (spider block)....

"You... were right ...it is pretty quiet here"Ezra said and sat on the ground as Ahsoka sat next to him "You like the quiet ?". "It depends" Ezra answered with a small chuckle. After that there was a short moment of silence untill Ezra spoke " can I ask you something?". "Of course" Ahsoka answered, focusing her attention on him "So um...you are a Jedi right?". Ahsoka let out a soft hmm "Well....I wouldnt say that. I would rather idnetify myself as somewhere between the light and the dark". Ezra looked at her confused "A-and that m-makes you..."Ezra said trying to impress both himself and Ashoka by knowing but in reality he had no idea. Ashoka chuckeled and said calmly "A Grey Jedi".

Ezra seemed to be amazed and very curious "T-that sounds like such a c-cool name" Ahsoka let out a small laugh "Yeah I guess so..but it's  hard to get to that point"

"How hard?"Ezra asked . "Really hard actually"Ahsoka answered. "Kanan told me that I could become a Jedi... so if I can do that.. does that mean I can become a Grey Jedi too?"

"Yes... but you'll learn over time what exactly is... the difference between a grey and a pure Jedi"Ashoka said

"It seems very interesting.."Ezra added. Suddenly a Krykna spider started quickly coming closer. "How didnt we notice him before ?" Ahsoka thought she was hoping Ezra wouldnt get scared.

"Am I the o-only one who sees that spider" Ezra asked with a hint of distress in his voice

"That giant spider is a Krykna Spider, they are kinda regural creatures at the Chopper base" Ashoka answered the smaller boy.  "They dont come closer than that?"Ezra asked and got up from the ground being very interested in the creaturee. There was much more curiosity than fear. In fact Ezra rarely feared animals, he always felt a deep connection to them. Someone the raven haired boy truely feared were strangers.

"They are kinda dangerous, so that fence blocks them"Ashoka pointed at the fence as Ezra came closer to the fence and the spider. Ahsoka was about to get up to pull him away but she stopped as soon as she felt what Ezra was doing. The spider was unusually calm and focused on the smaller boy. Ezra had his eyes closed but then opened them and smiled at the calm creature. Ahsoka was just standing there, observing the situation. She couldnt grasp the fact that a boy this age just connected with a being as primitive and wild as a Krykna spider. Ahsoka noticed Ezra was subconciously walking even closer to the creature. She didnt want to risk him getting hurt so she gently called out to him "Ezra?". The boy's attention was now focused on the woman next to him  "Hmh?.. y-yeah ?". As soon as Ezra spoke the spider started turning away untill it completely dissapeared into the horizon.

"Do you know what just happened?"Ashoka asked as Ezra shook his head at the question. The woman came closer to Ezra and sat down, gesturing him to sit down too.

"You used the force to connect with the spider "Ashoka started "I did?"Ezra answered in confusion, being suprised himself. "You did.. and it was pretty amazing, I tried to connect with them before but it didn't work, but you connected with them with no problem. You really have a talent for connecting". Ezra felt blush run across his cheeks as he turned his gaze away from Ahsoka "T-Thanks". Ahsoka smiled as another moment of silence set in. Suddenly Ahsoka called out to him "Ezra..Can I ask you something". The smaller boy immedietly turned his attention towards the woman "Yeah..?". "Kanan told me about you life before you met the crew. You are still very young, how did you survive for that long"Ashoka asked as Ezra was taken a back by her question, visibly wincing a bit "You dont have to answer" Ahsoka said gently. Then Ezra started speaking with fake confidence trying to impress the Grey Jedi in front of him "It was hard at first,  I-I had no idea what to do or where to live but... as time passed I learned all the things I needed to know about how to suivive. Most of the time I w-would steal because no one wanted to hire me for a job...But even.. though I was on my own, I still belived I could get through it and that I could survive on my own, but....I guess ...it's harder to fight loneliness then hunger." Ashoka sighed and turned her head up to the sky  "You know, I lived on the streets myself for a while..after I abandoned the Jedi order. I was a teen back then and I also had no idea what to do with my life.. I would try to get jobs but.. every time I fired quickly. Let's say I wasn't good at ''I tell you what to do and you do it'' thing. But the worst part is that I didn't have a home or...  a friend. I was completely on my own. But I still fought through it somehow.. I guess I just never gave up"Ashoka said and turned her head towards gently smiling in understanding. Ezra felt uderstood and valid when he heard Ahsoka's story, you could even say he felt a little less alone.

"I..guess we have  a lot in common"Ezra with a chuckle as Ahsoka gave a little laugh "Yeah". Steps were heard approching the two "Hey" Kana said cheerfully "We should probabaly get going, Commander Sato is looking for Ahsoka".

"Okay!"Ashoka and Ezra said and the same time and chuckeled afterwards. Kanan smiled at the sight. He could clearly see the two got close. Ahsoka was the first person Ezra was willing to stay with without the others or Kanan around. She was indeed the first person Ezra started trusting aside from the crew.
