"I would never do that to you" Kanan stated as he still stood awkwardly in front of the open doors. He looked confident but they all knew that on the inside he was an absolute mess.
"He didnt finnish Kanan" Aliza said after her laughs died down, and it was true Kanan was stating he wouldnt do something that he hadnt even heard from Ezra. After a couple of moments of pure realisation, Kanan's face turned a bright red.
"I mean-I..uhh..I had a feeling it was bad so I immedietly reacted so that the thought wouldnt even leave Ezra's lips but I..um I also wanted to say that I would never get mad or turn cold towards you no matter what, especially not because of my carelessness I-" Kanan would have continuted rambling if Ezra didnt suddenly shoot up from his laying position and swung his legs on the edge of the bed, ready to get up whenever he wanted.
"It wasn't your carelessness! It wasn't your fault Kanan..it was mine I-I didnt call for help. I dont know what went through my mind but I never meant for things to unfold like they did...I'm sorry. I understand if you are upset with me I dont blame you whatsoever. I was stupid and selfish and-" Before the teen could finnish, the older man swiftly came closer to him, bending down so they were at eye level as he said "Whatever went through your mind wasn't selfish and it certainly wasn't stupid either. You must have felt so lost and I'm sorry for not noticing it. And whatever you were about to say, I would never do anything to hurt you Ezra. No force on this earth could make me do such a thing. I want to be there for you and help you, protect you from whatever you are fighting with, even if it is yourself. Just know you are not alone anymore and There is nothing you need to apologise for okay?"
Ezra suddenly looked up from his staring contest with the floor and..There they were, those gentle honest and kind green eyes staring right back at him. The teen absorbed every single one of Kanan's words. Suddenly a wave of emotions hit his chest, just begging to burst out. He gripped it tightly like he was struggling to breathe, it set alarm bells to everyone else in the room untill a choked sob spread through the silence. Ezra let out sniffles and whimpers as his eyes filled with sparkling tears. He immedietly brought up a hand to try to hide them and wipe them away as he was muttering "Sorry" "I'm sorry". But despite his pleas the tears did not plan on stopping. His chest raged in a mix of hurt, sadness, relief, happiness it was so strange and new. He always made it a point to push his emotions away, burying them deep down so they never saw the light of day and yet here they were, showing off for all eyes to see. Kanan stared down at the now sobbing boy in front of him, he didn't know what was the correct thing to do so he went with what he felt was the right thing. Slowly but surely he let his arms gently and softly wrap around the young teen. When they were finally in place they squeezed slightly in a comforting embrace. The boy in his arms was still crying but didnt seem to tense up or protest from the sudden physcial touch, much to Kanan's surprise, he even seemed to lean into the man's chest.
They stayed like that untill the young Jedi's eyes had run out of tears and only occasional sniffles filled the room. Kanan looked down at the teen bundle in his arms and noticed that Ezra was leaned into his chest with his eyes closed and his breathing calm and stable. He was peacefully asleep. Every muscle in his body protested againts letting the boy go but Kanan knew Ezra would be way more comfortable on the bed where his back wasnt leaned in such a strained manner. Gently, like he was holding precious glass, Kanan set down Ezra on the bed. The boy made a small noise of protest but continued sleeping nevertheless. When he was tucked in and in calm slumber, Kanan turned around to meet the Psychologist's stunned expression. God it was hard to read that woman, he had no idea if she was stunned in a happy manner or in a "I will get you removed from Ezra's presance right this second" manner. But the Older Jedi prefered to believe the latter.
"U-Um.."Kanan's tongue twisted unable to mutter a word to the woman's face but then...her expression changed. Is that a smile forming on her face? It was warm, gentle and dangerously resembled a smirk but in an affectionate way. It didnt make sense and Kanan was really confused. He thought she would kill him right then and there but that possibility clearly wasnt happening...per say.
