Chapter Ten: You're 18 and you are legal to go to jail now.
"Jessamine...you...you're...here..."
I bit my lip, and answered. "Well yeah duh, I'm not there on the other side." Good sarcasm, Jessamine.
"Jessamine!" He quickly grabbed me and gave me a hug, a tight hug. It felt pure. It felt like as if this is what I wanted. With his arms around me, I felt really secure. I felt protected. I missed Finn so much. He still looked the same, but a lot thinner.
"Finn..." I whispered back.
"Jessamine...I can't... I can't believe this..." He finally let go of me and how I wished he continued hugging me. "Do you have any idea how many times I have searched for you on that coffee shop you are working on?"
The only thing I could do was to look at his shining blue eyes. I thought at first he had totally forgotten about me, but since he had asked that, my heart melted.
"No. What matters is that you did not wait for me that day we saw each other." Bitch mode Jessamine returned.
"I have an explanation for that." As he gave a huge sigh, he slowly took my hand and gave a warm caress on my palm. "But before that, you look really beautiful." His face was too sincere while he locked his eyes at me. Any minute now I might cry, but I did not want to. There's no reason to cry anymore now Finn has come back to me. I mean, I have come back to Finn.
"Gosh...you sure know how to make a girl happy." As I said it, I was not exactly sure myself if that's sarcasm or if I really meant that.
He let out another heavy sigh as he let go of my hand. "I think we should go somewhere else and have a talk."
"I really think that's a great idea."
"Ahem, Finn."
I looked at the person beside him, some guy who I did not recognize at all. He was just looking at us, waiting for us to say something. The moment Finn and I were speechless, he finally asked how we've met.
"Oh." We looked at each other with awkward tension. He was waiting for any of us to speak up but did not. Finally, I said, "He's...my friend's friend."
"What's up with the lovey dovey between the both of you then?"
I couldn't help but stutter. He was listening to us after all! That dimwit! "He's...I mean uhm, Finn and I..."
"She's my girlfriend." Finn casually said.
"No I'm not!" Accidentally, it slipped out.
Finn's face suddenly registered with pain. His whole body stiffened and I was angry with myself with what I just said. Technically, I did not know what our relationship status is right now.
"I see there must be a misunderstanding here." The guy said as he extended his hand. "I'm Lance by the way."
"Uhm, hi Lance."
Finn scratched his head with this awkwardness. "Lance is my friend. He graduated here. He wanted to come back and visit this campus so we came here together. I actually expected that you're going to be studying here."
