Chapter Fifty-One: Lovely. Cute as always, Jessamine.

Connor's POV

That night when Jessamine and I had a fight

A knock on the door startled me. "Master Connor, do you want to drink a cup of chrysanthemum tea?"

"Not now, Bradley, thank you."

Seconds later, the sound of his footsteps started vanishing, so I continued browsing my paintings and drawings. A drawing of Jessamine's face caught my attention as I scrutinized every lines and curves drawn. She's just so beautiful and I couldn't help but smile, and at the same time, feel shattered when I see her face. How could someone, someone who I met in some unforeseen circumstances, leave a terribly huge impact on my life?

But we had a fight, an argument. I accidentally blurted out that Finn is unlucky to have her due to my emotions being whirled around, but what I meant was the exact opposite.

Anyone is lucky to have Jessamine.

Whoever that Finn guy is, he's damn lucky to have Jessamine.

I couldn't help but give a sad smile as I touched the texture of my sketchbook with Jessamine's drawing on it.

"At least one of us is happy." I whispered as I flipped close the sketchbook.

Present

"So, what is this seminar all about?" The stoplight flashed red so I slowly stopped the car.

Jessamine was looking at the window, concentrating on every detail. The moment I gave a chuckle, she got startled and asked me what.

"I asked you what the seminar is about."

"Oh." Her cheeks reddened. "Debate. Caleb told me to go because it's a good opportunity."

I nodded and continued driving. The thought of me driving Jessamine brought back the first time I drove her back to her dorm. What made the both of us talk that time? Oh, it's the music! That's it!

With that, I turned on the sound system that was connected through Bluetooth to my phone. The song then started playing without me in shuffle mode. "Ain't never felt this way... can't get enough so stay with me. It's not like we got big plans... let's drive around town holding hands."

Jessamine looked at the sound system for a while then turned to me then back to the sound system without saying anything. She was listening to the song intently, without blurting out any comments.

"Oh my heart hurts so good. I love you, babe, so bad, so bad..."

She wasn't talking at all, but was just gazing at the sound system. In my mind I was thinking, out of all the songs that my phone has, why this song?

"Oh my heart hurts so good. I love you, babe, so bad, so bad..."

Yes, the song describes what I feel for you, Jessamine. I love you so bad.

She was nodding a bit while listening to the song, which I didn't know if she was enjoying it, or maybe she was trying to recall the lyrics, or maybe she was understanding the song itself, or maybe she didn't actually know what song this is? From what I understood out of taking glances at her while driving, she seemed to be liking the song, but she wasn't singing it. If she knew it, most likely she would sing along.

Strike another conversation? Connor, she's taken. She's taken for God's sake stop trying anymore. She could only be your friend and nothing more. A very special friend whom helped you in different ways that no one ever did. A special friend whom you've met only for a year, but showed sincerity in every move she makes.
