Chapter Nineteen: I didn't know that you two are dating?

"What?" Connor looked at me with dismay. "Food court?"

I was surprised with his reaction. Restaurants in food courts aren't even quarantined or something. "I'm craving for sizzling beef."

"She knows I don't eat at food court, but I have an idea that she likes eating at food courts though." Connor rubbed his chin and stood up as he turned the air conditioner lower.

Even better! Then I'm sure she would enjoy eating with Connor.

"Spoiled rich kid who doesn't eat at food court." I shook my head and made a tsk tsk sound.

"No. I got sick one time after eating at food court." His face exhibit huge regret.

Upon standing up, I dragged him out of the room and told him to go to the food court now.

"See yah later and good..." I paused, putting an emphasis on the next word. "Daye to you." Chuckling, I gave a wink.

At first he didn't understand, but he rolled his eyes when he realized it. "Nice job Jessamine for making that pun."

"I know! It's funny! I will laugh at this joke Daye and night." It was too much for me to handle, I'm becoming more and more corny. "Your friend here being funny, is it a...Connor pro?"

"Maybe you mean pro or con." Connor rolled his eyes again but this time, he was smiling, and I could feel that he was just holding his laughter.

"I want it to be a pun! Wait wait, what will be your new name when you're good at something?"

He raised his head up to think about an answer but he gave up.

"Connorsseur!"

"Oh man..." He facepalmed himself but he was secretly laughing. "Why are you like this?"

I shrugged while I was laughing. It was weird that I've becoming corny all of a sudden.

Suddenly, Mr. Daye came and said hi. Immediately, I stopped laughing and politely said hi to Mr. Daye. Connor also did the same.

"Hi Jessamine! Calvin and Christian improved much, thanks to you. You really are a good tutor." Mr. Daye chuckled and pat my shoulder.

"Oh, sure Mr. Daye. They're actually nice and obedient kids."

He looked at Connor then at me. "You guys know each other?"

"Uhm... yeah." Connor scratched his head since he was shy about it.

"How?"

Terrified, we looked at each other intuitively. Connor's face was bright red and of course I've thought of a vague excuse.

"Common friend... yeah, common friend." I smiled sheepishly, while Connor only nodded.

"Oh really? So you've met already before you started tutoring Calvin and Christian?"

"Ah... yeah." Great, why am I the one answering Mr. Daye and not Connor? He's his dad!

"Oh. Small world huh?" Mr. Daye tittered and pat his son's shoulder. "Do you want to stay and eat dinner with us, Jessamine?"

Shaking my head, I thanked him for his offer and I gave a beam.

"Uh dad, I won't have dinner with you guys today. I'll eat outside." Connor, always the awkward one, told his dad in a weird tone.

"You'll eat out?" Mr. Daye raised his eyebrows and chuckled. "With Jessamine?"

"Uhm not... really?" I answered, because Connor won't, of course. We were going to eat, together, but not actually together. I couldn't explain that anyway.
