Chapter Forty: I remembered my birthday was a bit of a disaster.
Right now, we're at Finn's house and despite him being "mad" at me, he was still the same gentleman that I knew. The both of us we're sitting at the couch, and I have to prepare myself and get the confidence I needed to tell the story.
"You can start anytime..." Finn placed down his phone on the table and gave me a look, waiting for me to speak up.
"So uhm..the story goes like this. My dormmate introduced me to a bunch of guy friends of hers and one of them is Caleb Porter. Afterwards, I didn't know why but he just kept on asking me out. Another guy named Tyrone kept on asking me out too. I just thought maybe they wanted new friends that's why they're being nice to me." I decided to tell the story vaguely because first, I didn't want to mention about the bet anymore because that surely would make Finn really mad and maybe do something stupid. Second, I dropped out the topic about Connor because he clearly was not related to this.
Finn rolled his eyes as he gave a comment. "Right. Friends. Right."
"How should I know? I mean, I am new here." My face pulled a frown.
"Yeah but you could have thought that those two who keep on asking you out might just want to I don't know..." Finn sounded frustrated. "Carry on."
"Well..." Or should I really tell Finn about the bet? "And then I was surprised to know that Caleb is the EVP of the Debate Club. I swear to God there's nothing between the both of us. We only went out a couple of times. Also, I stopped going out with him the moment you asked me to be your girlfriend."
Finn crossed his eyebrows, stared at me a for a while, waiting for me to say more. My heart continued to palpitate, not sure if I should tell him about the bet or not. I wanted to forget about those things, really. But somehow some person just wanted to ruin the Caleb thing by posting it as an online article, despite a hoax which I didn't think anyone knows.
"But Caleb is investigating about this situation. He is clearly upset about it." I continued. "I hope whoever wrote that would come apologize, because the news clearly is a hoax."
Finn repeatedly nodded. "Anything else?"
What on earth is Finn thinking? Does he know about it? Why does he kept on prodding about me giving him more information? Or was I being paranoid?
"What else is it to say?" My stomach started to churn a bit. "Don't you believe me?"
He closed his eyes and gave a deep breath. "I do, baby. I do. Please be careful when you're around people, especially guys, okay? You tend to forget how naïve you are."
"I will, Finn. I swear to you that I don't even talk to both of them anymore."
"Tell me if any of them starts hitting on you, because I'll take care of them myself." Finn gave a smirk afterwards.
"Are you the jealous type?" I could feel sweat on my brow, tickling.
"I don't... I don't want to lose you, okay?" Finn looked at me possessively, as he softly stroke my hair.
It was so good to be held by Finn because it felt really secure. Because I was feeling miserable that time, I wanted Finn to hold me more than anything else so I inched closer to him. We were silently looking at each other but I could say, it felt perfect.
"Oh my you have grown weight." Finn gave a smirk.
Immediately, I broke off the contact. "Hey, nobody tells me I'm fat."
"I just said you've grown weight. Who says you're fat?" Finn rolled his eyes and gave a chuckle.
"You implied."
