Chapter Fifty-Two: What's wrong? Are you okay?
The seminar was quite interesting in the sense that, I listened to every word of the speakers and took down notes. Rob was listening intently too and was jotting details on his notebook.
My phone vibrated so I tried to check it out, and it was Finn who texted me, again.
Finn: Jessamine, you're not responding. I miss you. We haven't seen each other for a while now, but I hope we will soon.
Maybe I should talk to him and straighten things out. Maybe I just jumped into conclusion without knowing what was happening, what the truth was. I missed him too, much more than I thought I would. This should be enough for me to meet him again because I wanted to talk to him badly as much as he wanted to. I gave a sigh as I replied,
Me: Okay. Do you have work later? I'll just go to your house instead.
Finn: No, I don't have work! Are you sure you're coming here? I can go to you.
Me: I'll rather go to you.
Finn: Okay baby. Tell me if you're coming here. I'll just drive you.
Me: Thanks Finn.
Finn: I love you, so much.
My heart ached so much as I replied,
Me: I love you too, Finn.
I wanted to see him badly, and I love him so much too.
On second thought, what the hell did I just do a while ago? Kissing Connor on the cheek? That's absurd, really. Why would I do that? Kissing Connor's cheek was my way to drive Caleb away because he was trying to flirt with me despite being such a jerk.
Rob and his curly hair turned to my direction as he asked me if I was bored, because I wasn't listening to the current speaker.
"Oh, uhm, just thinking about things." I lied vaguely, which I added more words afterwards. "Uhm about school." And smiled sheepishly.
"Okay." He did not interrogate anymore, which was good.
Now my mind was distracted with Finn. Ever since I knew about him lying about Aubrey. Why would he lie? He said he did not wait for me because there was a crazy girl after him, and he told me it was Aubrey. But Aubrey said it wasn't her, which means, Finn had another reason to leave the coffee shop which was really urgent. But why would he lie to me? I would have understood. But then again, why would he make up a weird story about some girl being crazy about him? Unless...
The weird messages... Someone's provoking me... That must be the person...
"Miss Jessamine Han?" A man wearing a checkered polo shirt with a walkie talkie suddenly approached me. "You've been signed up as a volunteer for today's mini ice breaker debate challenge.
"What? Me?" I was surprised with the sudden me being a "volunteer" when I did not volunteer myself to this. "Uh is Rob Young a part of this?"
"No, sorry." The guy flipped the paper he was holding and tried searching for Rob Young's name but failed.
"What's that about?" I asked in shocked, while Rob tried to ask what's going on.
"Apparently your Debate Club representative Caleb Porter signed you up as a volunteer and said you have a good potential. Come now we shouldn't waste so much time."
Argh! I should have known it was Caleb who signed me up to this mess. How could I debate without preparing? I didn't even know that I was going to debate. It's unfair! I hate Caleb so much!
