Chapter Twenty-Three: Why wasn't I invited?

"Open up." I repeatedly knocked on Finn's door and also repeatedly pressed the doorbell. I was calling Finn's phone but he wasn't responding at all. It was difficult for me to maintain my own composure as I waited for the door to open, whoever is going to open.

Suddenly, the door creaked open, and it was a young boy. He also had the similar blond hair with Finn but has dark eyes. "Hello, who are you?" The way he spoke showed that he's somewhat of a quiet type of person.

"Is this Finn Andersen's house?" The worry actually made me tongue tied. I didn't need to be formal, do I? No, it's just a kid.

"Yes, why?"

"I need to see him. I think he's having one of his attacks again right now."

The young boy, probably his brother, opened the door wider for me to go inside. He did not think twice as he closed the door upon letting me in. Using my instinct, I immediately and quickly dashed upstairs to a room that I felt it's his, even though I haven't been to this new house of his before. His brother followed behind me. I could actually feel my heart thumping out loud, and somehow I wished Finn has already taken care of himself, just like the first time I've seen him having his asthma attack.

"Is this his room?" I was panicking that's why even before his brother answered me, I repeatedly knocked on the door and abruptly opened it.

My eyes scanned around, and inside the room was a Finn lying on the bed, his back facing the ceiling. I hurriedly approached him and pulled his arm and shoulder in order for him to face me. It was frightening to see him very pale. His brother then handed me an inhaler, and helped me help Finn use it. He was struggling at first, but I patiently worked this out together with his younger brother.

"This is not the first time." His brother's voice was weak. "Mom always hands me a spare one just in case he misplaces his inhaler again. He's not really a responsible type, and he always drags himself at work which causes this. There are times wherein he works two jobs."

I felt a pang in my heart, because Finn is working too hard also just to have a better life for him and his family. What fears me though is that, if Finn overworks, he might collapse or something for being too tired. With this kind of asthma attack, I can't be calm all the time. "How would you know that he's having an attack when you're in your separate rooms?" Slowly, I could feel Finn starting to get conscious.

"This rarely happens, but if it happens then he should know better to have his inhaler on his pocket. Who are you by the way?" His brother eyed me with curiosity, looking at me wearing a fancy dress probably confused him. Averting my gaze, he checked out his brother again.

There's no other explanation anymore so I said what is, kind of right. "I'm his girlfriend."

"Oh." He scratched his head and nodded. "I think he's probably okay now. Are you going to take care of him or do I have to?" There was no hint of annoyance in his voice, but I could feel that he wanted to leave since I told him that I'm Finn's girlfriend.

"I will do the job. Thank you." I caressed Finn's face and helped him gain his consciousness. Finn's brother left the room which made me feel more private with Finn. He was starting to breathe normally again as I feel his pulse. After a few minutes, he started to move a bit.

His golden hair was shining like before, and seeing his calm, handsome face still made my heart flutter. My worry slowly vanished as he started to breathe in a normal rate. Even though his eyes were still shut, I was less scared now, because his skin was also turning normal now.

"Oh Finn... I'm so glad you're okay." I used my fingers and slowly stroke his hair down to his face as I was waiting for him to wake up. He slowly shifted to the side and gained some strength as he flicked his eyes open.
