OMG I just realized I have't updated for three weeks! :( How are you all? College life is really hectic. I'm sorry. :(
Chapter Fourteen: Ah, he's hitting on you too? That's unfair. you have two!
"Everyone's talking about Debbie's backyard party." Hailey whispered to me. "It's required to go with a partner."
"Who cares about the party. I'm not even invited." I rolled my eyes.
Atreyi then interjected. "Oh come on Jessamine. You're such a loser."
"Yeah, everyone's talking about it now." Maurice pointed at those people gossiping.
"This... is so high school." I felt disgusted with it.
Hailey did a weird laugh. "It's a sorority party Jessamine. You know nothing."
"They're running for the annual best sorority and fraternity party award." Atreyi added an info.
"Hi guys." We all paused when Debbie waved at us. "Come to my party, you are all invited! And don't forget that you need to go with a partner! Rule number two, no rejecting of partner invitation unless you already have a partner." She handed out a flyer and gave it to me. "See you all!"
Upon snatching the flyer, Maurice commented. "Too early to say things, Jessamine. This is so cool."
"And oh," Debbie suddenly returned back to us. "Non NYU students can join. Bye." She sashayed her way to her class.
My mind suddenly thought of Finn, because who else? Maurice should go invite Hailey while Atreyi should go with that Wheeler guy. If I could successfully bring Finn, then I would introduce him to my friends.
"No rejecting of partner? That's lame." Atreyi shook her head.
"Lame? What are you going to feel if Wheeler rejected you?" I gave a retort.
"Wheeler. Tss. I'd rather take Winger."
Maurice, Hailey and I looked at each other because we just couldn't stop thinking about that corny joke Atreyi just made. That's so... out of the world.
Hailey snorted and lightly slapped Atreyi's shoulder. "Ugly joke, Hay."
"Aren't you and Wheeler a thing?" Curiosity struck me like a cat.
"We're currently in an on off situation. It's driving me nuts."
We had finally arrived at the cafeteria and there was a really long line at the cash register. We had a draw lots system of who's going to order for the both of us. This time, Maurice and I drew the sad face papers. It was actually a blessing in disguise since I could teach Maurice on how to ask Hailey to the party. Also, it would be easy since the party is a, "no rejection" party. Actually, Debbie's smart for pulling that idea.
"Cool." Maurice sarcastically said.
"Don't be so sad, Maurice." Quickly, I dragged him to the line. The sooner we could order, the sooner we could eat. "So are you going to Debbie's party?"
"Are you kidding me? Some people said it would be a blast!"
"Uh-huh, but who are you bringing?"
His eyes twitched to the other side, pointing at Hailey obviously. It would be funny if it's Atreyi. "Okay, when are you going to ask her?"
He scratched his head and shrugged. "I don't know... tomorrow?"
"Dude..." My hand flew to my face because I couldn't believe Maurice would wait until tomorrow to ask her. "Come on man, ask her now. If somebody else asks her first, then say goodbye."
