Chapter Eta

A loud snap echoed through the small room as molecules in the air were converted into a type of antimatter scientists called a 'shadow pulse'. Shadow's arm fell forward, propelling the matter forward rapidly across the room. The man that was currently in the path of the antimatter dove out of the way.

The wall behind the man exploded, the antimatter cutting cleanly through the wall. The surrounding army raised their guns and fired. Before anyone else could react, Beta raised her arms and held her palms out. The bullets stopped in mid air, frozen in time.

Alpha converted part of the wall into a long staff like weapon. He charged with it at the first group of hostiles. Betas arms swept around in a circle and the suspended bullets flew around the room while Epsilon's wrist blades were the last thing anyone saw before he vanished.

With in several seconds of it beginning, the fight was over. The threat neutralized. Shadow looked up to see the man he called his father slowly backing out of the door before turning and running through the newly formed hole in the wall that Shadow provided him with.

"Let's move," Shadow yelled and took off after him.

"Shadow!" Epsilon yelled back, calling him back. Shadow either didn't hear him or just didn't care.

The next thing he knew, there was a green fog in front of him. Running too fast to move out of the way, he ran through it. The next thing he realized was the team he just left was in front of him and he running towards them. He suddenly felt very sick and stopped running and bent over, fighting off a wave of nausea.

"Close your eyes and take deep breaths," Gamma said, patting him softly on the back. "Don't forget to breathe." He did as he was instructed slowly changing from rapid shallow breaths to short deep ones.

"It's because of the rapid direction change," Gamma explained his unvoiced question. "It happens to people who were moving in one direction, suddenly change directions, it messed with their natural rotation. Sorry."

"Why did you do that?" He gasped out slowly standing again.

"We've lived a very long time," Epsilon answered. "We didn't live that long running towards danger."

"Well thanks for the advice but I'm old enough to make my own decisions," Shadow said turning back and running after his father. Epsilon looked at the rest of his team and sighed.

"Someone should go after him," Alpha said. "Make sure he doesn't get himself killed."

"I'll go," Beta said.

"I'll come too," Omega and Epsilon quickly said at the same time. They both looked at each other strangely. Gammas eyebrows went up. Before there could be anymore awkward, Epsilon ran forward with Beta, following Shadow.

"You know, for a team," Omega began, watching them disappear. "You guys tend to spit up a lot."
