Chapter Gamma
The door opened with a loud screech of protest and five figures walked into a large studio apartment. The walls were painted a light cerulean color and looked very untidy. There were random dishes littering the coffee table and in the sink. There was a large stain on the rug and several pizza boxes trashed around the room.
The two largest people entering the room were holding another by his shoulders, the third being too exhausted to stand on his own. They all took a few steps into the room before they released the man, dumping him on the ground. The other four took positions around the fallen man and stood there staring at the couch in the middle of the room where another sat, looking back.
Jason Krew surveyed the Titans and their capture. He sat for a moment with out moving before reaching for his sidearm. He whipped it out of the holster on his leg and pointed it at the group in a blur of motion so fast it looked like it had just materialized in his hand. Before his arm fully extended however, the gun vanished from his hands. He turned for a moment confused before another man appeared on the couch seated next to Jason.
“Krew,” Epsilon said, appearing rapidly. He was holding out the gun and quickly disassembled it, handing the pieces back to Jason. “To what do we owe the pleasure?” Epsilon continued while Alpha, Beta, Gamma and Scott appeared behind the couch.
“How did you?” He started, looking from the group at the door to the group behind him. A second later, the group at the door vanished.
“Beta’s mind illusion,” Alpha explained simply. Krew just nodded as if he understood even though everyone in the room knew he didn’t.
“She can project an image into someone’s mind and trick them into thinking that is what they are seeing. Its still a work in progress, you might even say its only in the beta.” Gamma said to the chorus of groans.
“I’m sure you didn’t come here to hear Gamma’s bad puns,” Alpha said, punching her lightly in the shoulder. She turned back and decked him hard on his own shoulder. Alpha fell out of his chair, on to the floor.
“Well, you didn’t have to clean the place up just for me,” Krew said, glancing over at a piece of cheese that was dripping out of a pizza box onto a puddle on the floor. “I hope you don't mind, but I brought some friends with me.”
A moment later, there was a loud metallic hiss from the doorway as two men dressed in full black fatigues slowly visualized. They each had the G.E.A.R. emblem on their shoulders, the word G.E.A.R. spelled out with several teeth on the G as if it were part of its own separate gear. It took almost thirty seconds for them to completely reappear and when they did, they kept cutting out of thin air, parts of them turning transparent for moments at a time. Epsilon raised an eyebrow and tried to refrain from bursting out laughing. He walked up to the two men to inspect the invisible holes in their chests and arms.
“You like it?” Krew said, shrugging off Epsilon's, and now Gamma's, failed attempts to stifle their own laughter. “Our state of the art camouflage suits. They react to the wearers surroundings and camouflage to blend in with it. Changing to the exact detail of the environment where ever they may be,” Krew said, trying to talk over the pairs laughter.
“It is of course with its flaws but soon it will be operational.” He finished getting more and more annoyed with Epsilon.
“It can even make reflective surfaces disappear,” Krew retorted, his voice raising. Epsilon slowly stopped laughing to hear that.
“Impressive,” Epsilon said, then thought for a moment and then added. “Wait a moment, how did you know I was unable to make reflective surfaces vanish? I never told you that.”
YOU ARE READING
Titans (Outdated)
ActionTotally outdated version of the Titans series. All three books (Four counting the first has been written twice) I would recommend reading the newer version. Link: http://www.wattpad.com/2486348-titans-read-first-prologue/intro
