Chapter Omega (The End)

The sound of thick boots on hard concrete echoed down the dark hallway as three gear agents walked down a small flight of stairs and a long dark corridor. Their faces were barely illuminated by the dim light above them. Gear agents fed off the darkness, they were trained to move, eat, breath and fight in the dark so this dim lighting wasn't bothering them at all. Most of the agents didn't even feel that they should have lighting at all.

They all walked in silence. The agent in the middle was holding a small box. They received it just a few minutes ago. No one knew how it got there or how anyone knew about its recipient. They were warned not to open the package until they reached the recipient. There were explicit instructions that if they were to open the package, they would blow the building, realizing all the genetically mutated creatures. They normally don't give into commands but this time, they had no choice.

They passed a large wall that read 'SECTOR 13' before the wall opened and they walked through. There were two figures sitting in a cell across the room. They didn't even look up when they saw them.

"Delivery," the agent said with unhidden disgust.

"I didn't realize you delivered," one of the large figures said.

"Half an hour or its free?" the second figure said. The man didn't reply. He just slammed the box on the table. He quickly opened it to reveal a small cell phone. Right as he opened it, it started to ring. The agent flipped open the phone.

"Hello," the man said. The person on the other line didn't answer immediately.

"You aren't who I want to talk to," it finally said. The man signed and handed the phone to the figure.

"Its for you." He said and looked from creature to creature. He dropped the phone on the table and pressed two buttons. The voice came out on speaker.

"Impressive show you put on out there," the voice said, undistinguishable and computerized.

"What do you want with us?" the large figure said.

"All in good time Jeff," the voice said. "All in good time. I have a bit of a position on my staff open. You interested?"

"Any benefits?" the smaller figure asked.

"Plenty, Carl, plenty." The voice replied. "We'll talk in more detail later, I just need a commitment now."

"Hate to put a damper on your plans," the gear agent said. "But these people aren't going anywhere."

"I need an answer," the voice said, ignoring the agent. Carl and Jeff exchanged glances.

"We're," Carl said.

"In," Jeff said.

"Great," the voice said, the phone started to wail. "We'll be in touch."

Suddenly, the phone exploded. The agents all tried to react but they weren't fast enough. They all got caught in the blast.

A second later, the flames died down and Jeff and Carl stood there, returned to their original state. A gray portal opened in the middle of the room and they dove though it and vanished.
