Teddy Bear - Engineer x Child!Reader

You softly tapped on the door to the workshop. Tears were streaming down your cheeks but you were silent. It was after all one in the morning.

Engineer groggily opened the door, wearing his team colored pajamas. "What in tarnation? Oh, Y/n. What do yah need darlin'?" You sniffled a bit. "I had a n-nightmare." He sighed. "C'mon in sweetheart." He stepped aside and you swiftly walked in.

He shut the door and walked over to the actual bedroom part of the room. He turned on a small lamp, that was next to his bed, and sat down on the bed. You hoisted yourself up on the bed and squeezed your knees to your chest. He put a hand on your back and rubbed it.

"What was it 'bout darlin'?" He asked. "M-Monsters." You said, shaking a little. "They c-came and took e-everyone." Engineer wrapped an arm around your shoulders and pulled you close to him.

"They started to ch-chase me. Then they c-caught me and-" Your voice had started to raise so he shushed you. "Now yah listen here Y/n... The guys an' Ah will never leave yah. Alright? No monsters are gonna get us or yah." He wiped away your tears with his thumb. You wrapped your small arms around Engineer's torso and hugged him tightly.

He had his arm around you already so he just squeezed you tightly. He then lit up with an idea. "Darlin' do you want somethin' to make it better?" You nodded and let go of him. He smiled and stood up. "Wait here." He walked over to a shelf in a different corner and pulled off a stuffed bear.

He returned and knelt in front of you. He held the bear out to you. "This is mah bear. His name is Teddy Roosebelt. Ah get nightmares too." You took the little bear. It was dressed in a hard hat, goggles, and overalls. You smiled and hugged it. "It looks like you." Engineer laid down on the bed behind you.

"Yeah..." He yawned. "...It sure does." You laid down next to Engineer, still hugging the bear. Engineer pulled the blanket over you and wrapped an arm around you. He pulled you close to his chest so that way your back was right up against it. He was warm.

You nuzzled your face into the bear and reached up, turning off the light. Engineer sighed and held you tighter. You wiggled around so that way you were now facing him. Engineer looked down at you. You smiled up at him.

He smiled down at you and kissed your forehead. You held the bear up to him. He chuckled and kissed the bear too. You kissed the bear as well. The bear probably did not mind. Probably.

"Thank you Engie and Teddy Roosebelt." You said. He closed his eyes. "For what sweetheart?" He asked, yawning. "For protecting me from the monsters." You yawned. "Of... of course sweetheart." His voice was full of fatigue.

Both of you began to fall asleep. "You know what Engie?" You asked. "Hhm?" He asked. "I..." You yawned loudly. "I love you..." Your voice trailed off as you began to snore softly. Engie smiled.

"Ah love yah too mah little Y/n."
