It's Kristen's Birthday today!
Since she was late I met Kirsten in the office. As per my plan, I gave her the savage card first and her expression immediately dropped. Serves her right! Later on I did give her the heart felt card and she loved it. I'm not that bad a friend. Kristen has been my closest friend in college and she deserves to be appreciated for the human she is.
A couple of my colleagues (around 8 of us) decided to surprise Kristen with a cake but that plan kinda flopped. One of my colleagues and I were supposed to go get the cake during lunch time but I was busy in an interview. Since this was all my idea, no one else knew what to do.
We did celebrate tho. After work, two of us dragged Kristen to a cake shop that I haven't been to since my junior college days and had a couple of pastries. It was a good time.
The ride to the cake shop was terrible tho. We waited for about 25 mins for the bus and by that time there were quite a lot of humans accumulated at the bus stop. The bus having already been filled with a number of people didn't help the situation either. We barely got on the bus when it started moving. There were so many people cramped up in the bus and Kristen and the other colleague were hanging out of the bus for about 2 bus stops. I was pushed against the railing with such force throughout the bus ride that I can still feel the pain even now at the end of the day.
What's hilarious is that at one point, a foreigner saw the over-crowded bus and started taking pictures. Yes bruv, this is the Indian lifestyle right here.
I think I'm ready to wait for another bus if this is the experience I'm getting.
Oh but the personal best of the day was that I got my very first pay check of my life! The pay isn't much but I finally earned real money and it feels really cooooollll! This is definitely a mile stone in my life. I don't know what I'm going to do with the money. I was thinking of dividing it between the four family members but my dad asked me to reserve my first paycheck for myself.
I'll probably just invest it. Or buy necessarities. I haven't shopped for clothes in months!
