I'd quietly crept out of bed not wanting to wake the birthday boy, he was fast asleep, he looked like a little boy when he slept, ageless, adorable, so tearing myself away from him I head downstairs and grab his presents that i'd hidden in Gran's larder placing some on his tray to go with his breakfast and the others in the living room for when he comes down. Riley and Ellie had kept their presents for him in their room wanting to keep them safe apparently. I'd help them to wrap them, they were personal ones their hand prints in a frame and a mug with their photo on with "The World's best Daddy" written on it for him to use at home.
I made him the full works for his breakfast as every morning since we'd arrived here he'd brought me breakfast in bed so today of all days was my turn, but somehow a cooked breakfast still didn't seem to match all that he had given me. I'd bought him some small presents trying to not repeat what I'd got him for Christmas. His main present were tickets to the Albert hall to watch the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra give a concert of show tunes knowing he'd love it. It would also remind him of our first proper date together the night we'd shared our first proper full on blow your mind kiss, oh that kiss and shared so much more by it's end.
"Somebody's up early" says William coming in through the back door after seeing to the animals for Gran he walks over and gives me a peck on the cheek "Morning my love" such a gent
"Morning Dad" which I was now to call him at his insistence. "Just getting breakfast for the birthday boy" I tell him
"You're too good to him" he laughs "How's my grandchild doing?" he asks motioning to my tummy
"Fine I think, still making me feel like I've been ten times round on a roller-coaster" I joke. By the time we got back home I'd be two months pregnant already I still had to pinch myself now and again.
I head upstairs to see if he's awake but he isn't love him. I place the tray down on the bedside table and lean over him stroking his fringe away from his face, his eyes open slowly, he's even more gorgeous when he's sleepy. "Happy Birthday Sweetie" I whisper to him, he smiles against my lips as I give him his first birthday kiss, first of many.
"Thank you sweetheart" he says well tries to say as I keep bombarding him with kisses.
"I've made you breakfast" I tell him pulling the tray onto his lap. I give him his birthday card and the envelope with the tickets in. His face lights up
"Bless you sweetheart, they're brilliant but if it was tickets for a panto at a school hall they would be brilliant, as long as I was sat next to you" More kisses
"Mmmmm my old softy" he giggles. He opened his other presents loving them all. "Eat your breakfast there's more presents to come" I tell him.
"Oh yeah" he says cheekily
"Down boy.........Later" leaning my forehead against his
"Mmm do I get to unwrap you?" he asks "You certainly will" I assure him.
"Daddy, Daddy, Happy Birthday"
"Happa beedy Dada" shout Riley and Ellie, bursting into the bedroom "
"Why thank you" says Ben
"And how are my two favourite monkey's today" he asks
"We got you these presents Daddy" they hand over their presents gently so proud like they were solid gold, to Ben they were. He opened them and the look on his face said it all
"Lots a prezzies Dada" Ellie says
"I know I'm very lucky" he leans towards them picking up the mug and the hand prints "But these are my favourites" he whispers "the best presents ever" he says winking at me. The children were made up. He put the card they had made on his bedside table taking pride of place.
