Happy New Years 😈
-
Though I wasn't an active smoker, like at all, I knew one wouldn't hurt right now. I for damn sure needed it.
A million and one thoughts ran through my head as I tried to think of what I would tell Vanessa. I knew this was something big and I couldn't keep it from her, not like I would be able to. Once the story was in TMZ's hands, there was no stopping it. It was out.
I flicked the ashes out before placing it back in between my lips and watched the light sprinkle hit my windows. I wasn't moving, I was sat silently in the driveway, prolonging the inevitable.
A groan left my body as I dropped my head against the steering wheel. Why did it seem that anywhere we went, drama followed. Well, it followed me.
I smoked it down until it was a stringer before I dropped it out of the window and took that as my cue to get out. The rain was a little heavier and I didn't bother pulling up my hood as I walked through to the front door. I slowly opened it and closed it behind me.
Music immediately flooded my ears and I followed the tunes to the kitchen. Vanessa was over the stove cooking and I smiled, crossing my arms and leaning against the doorframe.
Her head raised suddenly as she sniffed the air before turning around to face me. She wiped her hands on the rag before stopping the music and approaching me.
"Hey," I mumbled and sniffed because of the cold water dripping down my face.
Her hands held my arms as she studied me throughly. "What's wrong? Did you smoke?"
I smiled and looked down at my shoes for a moment before nodding. "Yeah, only one though." I rested my head on the wall as I let out a sigh. "We gotta talk about something." Her eyes flared with something but I couldn't pin it. "Have you been online recently?"
"No..why?" I closed my eyes softly and shook my head before going to the stove and turning the fire off. "What's online, Y/n?"
"Just this.." I huffed and gently grabbed her hand. "Let's go upstairs for a moment." I led her up the stairs slowly and into our room before quickly changing out of my clothes and into something less wet.
We both soon sat on the edge of the bed. She watched me silently, not pushing me to talk gladly.
"I-" It wouldn't come out. I fell back onto the bed and groaned into my hands. "This is so stupid. Every time I'm happy the world just shits on me."
"Babe whatever it is, you can tell me." Vanessa whispered and grabbed my hand.
I sighed heavily before raising myself up again. "Yeah I knows but you won't like it. You'll hate it." I licked my lips and closed my eyes before nodding. "So...the trial is a go but the girl that drugged me, Yvette, released something to the press. She also brought it up to the court."
"What..what is it?" She asked fearfully, just as I was.
"She.." I squeezed her hand softly and stared down at the sheets. "She's pregnant." Looking up, I watched her eyes flick side to side as if her mind was running. "They did a non invasive paternity test and it's mines."
Silence. She didn't say a word. I felt myself start to sweat despite the cold as she released my hand.
"Wow," she breathed out and rubbed her thighs slowly. "Um, give me a moment." I watched her stand up and take small steps to the door. "I'm not mad just..give me a second." She whispered now and left the room.
My hands trembled in my lap as I shook my head. This couldn't be happening now. Not now.
I opened my drawer and took out my prescription pills before popping two into my mouth and swallowing them dry. I laid back onto the bed and stared blankly at the ceiling, hoping this was just some sick nightmare and I would wake up anytime now.
